Rumors have been swirling that Central Catholic (California) four-star offensive tackle Manasse Itete, a USC Trojans pledge, was ready to flip to the Florida State Seminoles.

On Friday, the first domino fell, as the 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman announced his decommitment from USC.

Even more intriguing, Itete indicated he will make a final commitment Saturday.

Itete, the nation's No. 12 offensive tackle, has believed to be a heavy Florida State lean following an unofficial visit to Tallahassee this spring.

“It was pretty good," Itete told SBLive Sports at the time. "When I first got there, it was unbelievable. I wasn’t expecting the way they greeted me. When I arrived it was unbelievable. It was a pretty good time. It wasn’t just something to excite me. It’s the way they are.”

In fact, he admitted he was quite close to announcing his commitment.

However, when it came time to take official visits, Itete surprised many with a quick commitment following his first trip to USC.

All along, Florida State remained in contact - and remained in the mix.

Expect a new pledge for the Seminoles this weekend.

Florida State's 2024 recruiting class consists of 17 pledges and is ranked No. 14 nationally.

That group has just two offensive linemen in the fold thus far, Pine Forest (Florida) three-star interior offensive lineman Jonathan Daniels and Oviedo (Florida) three-star lineman Tye Hylton.
