DeAndre Carter to Auburn Tigers; nation's No. 1 interior offensive lineman announces commitment

This fall, the Mater Dei Monarchs (California) are the favorites to win the high school football national championship.

The roster is loaded with elite talent, including multiple four and five-star recruits.

On Sunday, the "biggest" of those stars came off the board, as 6-foot-4, 340-pound interior offensive lineman DeAndre Carter announced his commitment to the Auburn Tigers over Michigan State and Texas.

Carter is rated the nation's No. 1 interior lineman and the No. 55 overall prospect.

"Carter’s first start came in the final game of his freshman season against national powerhouse St. John Bosco and he hasn’t missed a game since. He has started every game at left tackle but we think he slides inside and plays guard at the college level. For as big as he is, he moves well and shows good lateral mobility. He rarely is beaten off the edge by speed rushers and is a mauler in the run game. In terms of his frame and playing style, he reminds us of former Ohio State OL Wyatt Davis, who was a tackle in HS but moved to guard in college." 

Carter's commitment helps address a massive need for the Tigers. 

Auburn has an 18-man class that is ranked No. 16 nationally, but until this weekend didn't have a single offensive line pledge.

The class has a pair of five-star prospects - Foley (Alabama) five-star wide receiver Perry Thompson and Chilton County (Alabama) five-star linebacker Demarcus Riddick - a high-end quarterback in Little Rock Christian Academy (Arkansas) gunslinger Walker White and, now, one of the nation's top offensive linemen.
