A look at the top recruiting stories of the weekend

It was a busy weekend in college football and on the recruiting trail, as the Oklahoma Sooners and Miami Hurricanes picked up key commitments, while prospects from around the country took visits to various campuses.

Here's a look at he top recruiting stories of the past few days:

- Oklahoma Sooners land bluechip Texas prospect during jumbo-tron announcement

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound class of 2024 defensive lineman committed to the Oklahoma Sooners in a jumbo-tron announcement video in the school district's shiny new $35 million stadium.

- Prediction: Oklahoma Sooners to add 2nd bluechip DL soon

Thus far, the headliners of the class are undoubtably IMG Academy (Florida) five-star defensive lineman David Stone and Longview (Texas) running back Taylor Tatum, the nation's No. 1 player at his position.

To date, the group lacks a true in-state bluechip pledge.

But that may soon change.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound edge-rusher announced a top three of Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas on Sunday, and set a September 20 commitment date:

According to 247Sports' Hank South, Alabama pledge and Saraland (Alabama) five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams is now planning to visit Texas.

- Missouri 5-star DL commit Williams Nwaneri attends Tigers' home game

On Saturday, the nation's No. 3 overall prospect wasn't hard to find, tweeting out a photo of himself in attendance at Missouri's game against Middle Tennessee.

- Colorado, Deion Sanders host nation's No. 1 athlete for home opener

The visitor list headliner was spotted in pregame - Cass Tech (Michigan) elite athlete CJ Sadler, the nation's No. 1 athlete in the class of 2026, who was standing next to Colorado four-star defensive line pledge Brandon Davis-Swain:

- Michigan bluechip commit Mantrez Walker visiting Colorado, Deion Sanders: 'I believe'

Buford (Georgia) four-star linebacker Mantrez Walker, a class of 2025 Michigan Wolverines pledge, has scheduled a visit to Colorado for the September 30 contest against the USC Trojans.

- Ohio State 5-star DL commit Justin Scott wears Georgia Bulldogs gloves during game

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound defensive lineman showed off his Georgia Bulldogs gloves, as reported by Rivals' Clint Cosgrove.

- Clemson 5-star LB pledge Sammy Brown poses in front of 'Should gone to Duke' poster after blowout win

In a matchup between Jefferson and Oconee County opposing fans decided to troll the nation's No. 5 overall prospect and No. 1 linebacker with a sign that read, "Shoulda gone to Duke." 

He got the last laugh.

- Penn State coach James Franklin arrives by helicopter to watch Pennsylvania sophomore

The Penn State football head coach made a stop on Friday at Trinity, the home of Nittany Lions commit Messiah Mickens, but he didn't pull up in a car. Franklin arrived to the school in a helicopter.

- Missouri football coach Eliah Drinkwitz arrives by helicopter to watch Jeremiah McClellan, Ryan Wingo

Christian Brothers College four-star wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan, an Ohio State Buckeyes commit, may prove to be a difficult player to flip, however Missouri is also after his teammate, class of 2025 three-star prospect Corey Simms.

The Tigers are among the favorites to land St. Louis University five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo, the nation's No. 7 overall prospect.

- Notre Dame elite quarterback commit CJ Carr discusses Fighting Irish, big weekend victory

Carr is the top-ranked recruit in Notre Dame's class of 2024, and he is the top senior recruit in Michigan high school football.

- Florida Gators commit Kahnen Daniels runs for 427 yards, 7 touchdowns in close win

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound athlete scored all seven of his team's touchdowns and rushed for 427 yards on 38 carries in a 50-40 win over Noxubee County.

In total, Daniels delivered touchdown runs of 3, 64, 37, 3, 35, 5 and 17 yards.
