USC football recruits cheering for Washington during gameday visit? A rumor explained

After beating USC, Washington made sure California recruits were paying attention

The No. 5 Washington Huskies put the state of California on notice this weekend with its win over then-No. 22 USC Trojans, 52-42.

And given that California is a hotbed of high-end high school football talent, the big win was one Washington's coaching staff didn't want to waste.

Washington Director of Player Personnel Courtney Morgan delivered the message loud and clear: "Come to Montlake."

Perhaps that message wasn't even necessary.

According to one fan (unconfirmed), USC recruits were actively cheering for the Huskies during the game Saturday:

SBLive Sports reached out to recruits to find out what took place.

According to two prospects who were on a visit this weekend, there were a small number of prospects visiting USC who were already committed to Washington.

Those Washington pledges, while still being recruited by the Trojans, cheered for the Huskies during their visit.

So, at worst, one could speculate the flip attempt wasn't going particularly well.

But this was not a case of USC targets suddenly falling in love with, and cheering for, the Huskies.

Still, Washington is hoping that enthusiasm spreads to more California prospects.

Morgan sent the message loud and clear!
