Devin Sanchez sets commitment date; Nation's No. 1 cornerback down to 3

North Shore (Texas) five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez down to Alabama, Ohio State and Texas A&M

North Shore (Texas) five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez is down to three and ready to announce his college commitment.

On Wednesday, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound cornerback set a January 6 commitment date and a final three of Alabama, Ohio State and Texas A&M:

Sanchez is rated the nation's No. 5 overall prospect and No. 1 cornerback in the class of 2025.

But while all three finalists are likely pleased to make the cut, one program has stood out for weeks.

Ohio State appears to be the heavy favorite to secure Sanchez's commitment, and he recent had high praise for secondary coach Tim Walton, who returned to Columbus after an 11-year stint in the NFL, most recently spending three years with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"I feel like Coach Walton with all the experience he has being in the league stands out," he told On3. "Being a DC coaching guys like Jalen Ramsey, Tyson Campbell, I think he can take my game to the next level."

The recruiting industry sees Ohio State as an overwhelming favorite, as 247Sports has 100 percent of its predictions in for the Buckeyes, while On3 gives OSU a 96.9 percent chance of adding Sanchez into the fold.
