5-star running back visiting Oregon Ducks, reacts to Dan Lanning staying in Eugene

Mater Dei (California) five-star running back Jordon Davison is visiting Oregon this weekend

The Oregon Ducks are hosting an impressive collection of visitors this weekend, including several top prospects from national powerhouse program Mater Dei (California).

One of the marquee names expected to be in Eugene is Mater Dei (California) five-star running back Jordon Davison, Rivals' No. 13 overall prospect and No. 1 running back in the class of 2025.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound ball-carrier has already visited Oregon several times, so this trip will be about continuing to build relationships with the staff.

"(I'm) excited to get back around Coach Lock [Carlos Locklyn], Coach (Dan) Lanning and all the other coaches," Davison said. "I feel the Ducks are trending in the right direction."

One of the reasons for that optimism is Lanning's choice to remain at Oregon during the college football coaching carousel.

But while that decision may have been an eye-opener to some, Davison said he expected Lanning to stay put.

"I wasn’t surprised," he said. "(Lanning) wants to win at Oregon. That’s his goal. He wants to build his own legacy."

As for Oregon's on-field success, Davison explained his interest in the offense prior to his last visit in November.

"I love how they involve the running backs in the offense," he said. "They put you into one-on-one situations and take advantage of that."

On Thursday, Ohio State stopped by Mater Dei to check in on the bluechip running back.

And that effort proved to be worth it.

Davison was impressed, and is slated to visit Ohio State on March 27.

"Great program... love what they are doing," he said. "Very consistent."
