Corey Simms sets Missouri, USC official visits, previews trips

Christian Brothers College (Missouri) four-star wide receiver Corey Simms provides his thoughts on Missouri, USC

Christian Brothers College (Missouri) four-star wide receiver Corey Simms has racked up 35 scholarship offers early in the recruiting process.

The long, impressive list includes Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee and many others.

That shouldn't come as a surprise after the 6-foot-4, 195-pound pass-catcher hauled in 79 receptions for 1,046 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior.

This spring, Simms is beginning to trim down his list of options, and has already scheduled a pair of official visits - USC (June 7) and Missouri (June 21).

While the Missouri product already took a trip out to Los Angeles in February, he's eager for the official visit experience with the Trojans.

That excitement is enhanced further given the relationship Simms is building with the staff.

"Coach (Dennis) Simmons flying out to St Louis to offer me felt great," he said. "I always liked USC as a kid. Then I got to sit down and converse with coach (Lincoln) Riley and Coach Simmons when I visited in February. I enjoyed the transparency, and both guys delivering the same message about how much they want me to be part of their team."

Simms describes the Trojans as a "serious contender" and is enamored with Riley's offensive prowess.

"Coach Riley's offense looks really fun to play in," he said. "Watching some of the games, his offense looks hard to defend and I think he’s great at developing talent, Look at all the talent he has coached that plays on Sunday."

Missouri is the second official visit on the schedule.

The Tigers stand out due to their long-standing interest in the in-state target.

"I have good relationship with coaching staff and I received my first offer from Missouri," Simms said.

Don't expect the official visit list to end at two.

Simms said he hopes to schedule more trips in the coming weeks.

But in the meantime, Missouri and USC should both feel good about their growing relationship with the dynamic receiver.
