THIS WEEK’S FLORIDA COACH OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:

Editor’s Note: Our Coach of the Week feature and corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. Zac Lendyak, Catawba Ridge

Lendyak is Catawba Ridge’s first football coach and the program he originated in 2018 is flying high. The Copperheads are a perfect 8-0 after dismantling Lancaster 60-14.

Catawba Ridge has made a huge leap after going 6-5 in 2021. The Copperheads have made themselves into a AAAA title contender. The eight wins are a school record.

Jason Tone, T.L. Hanna

The Yellow Jackets just clinched the top seed in their conference with a thrilling come-from-behind 14-13 win over previously undefeated Hillcrest in a battle of top teams. Hanna had to overcome a 13-0 deficit.

T.L Hanna was 10-2 in 2021, so the excellence continues.

Mark Barnes, Sumter

The Fighting Gamecocks just scored an impressive 42-21 win over Carolina Forest and they are now 7-1.

Sumter was 10-2 and reached the third round of the AAAAA playoffs last year. The excellence continues.

Ian Rafferty, Summerville

The former New York Jets offensive lineman has the Green Wave at 7-1 following an impressive 34-13 of West Ashley, a team that had lost just once.

Summerville, one of South Carolina’s most storied programs, is used to this kind of success. The Green Wave went 4-5 last season but it appears they have bounced back in a big way.

Drew Marlowe, South Florence

Marlowe is presiding over one of the state's top AAAA programs in 2022. The Bruins are undefeated at 8-0. They were successful in 2021 with an 8-3 record.

But armed with a Syracuse-bound star quarterback in LaNorris Sellers, they could be the team to beat in 2002.

Jeff Fruster, Daniel

Fruster is directing a burgeoning dynasty. The Lions are two-time defending AAA state champions and have won 32 consecutive games.

No one has challenged the Lions in 2022. They are setting their sights on a three-peat.

Don Shelley, Williamsburg Academy

This guy is a South Carolina Independent Schools Association legend, with nine state championships at Orangeburg Prep and Holly Hill Academy.

Shelley is going for a third act. This is his fourth year at Williamsburg, Shelley has the Stallions sitting undefeated at 7-0 following a 54-27 victory over Orangeburg Prep.
