South Carolina offers South Florence's LaNorris Sellers

Prolific QB has verbally committed to Syracuse, but is this a game-changer?

South Florence star quarterback LaNorris Sellers has received an offer from South Carolina hours after his coach spoke about the lack of interest in the Palmetto State.

Sellers, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound senior, tweeted early Saturday afternoon that he had an offer from the Gamecocks. The Shrine Bowl-bound quarterback gave Syracuse a verbal commitment in March but this latest development could alter the picture. Players can and do decommit.

The offer comes on the heels of another superb game from the dual-threat quarterback. Sellers completed 14 of 19 passes for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns in the undefeated Bruins’ 46-0 romp over North Myrtle Beach. He also ran 9 times for 107 yards and a touchdown.

After the game, South Florence coach Drew Marlowe expressed disbelief that Sellers only had one offer - from Coastal Carolina - in South Carolina.

That all changed overnight.

Sellers has thrown for 1,894 yards and 26 touchdowns against just 2 interceptions. On the ground, he has 778 yards and 12 touchdowns.

South Florence is the No. 1-ranked AAAA team in South Carolina.

Sellers also has Power 5 offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech and Washington State. Other FBS offers are from Appalachian State and George State.

South Carolina’s starting quarterback, Spencer Rattler, is a red-shirt junior. His backup, former Myrtle Beach star Luke Doty, is a junior.
