Is it that time to think about who the Player of the Year is in the state? During the playoffs, South Carolina's best players are on display and showing just why they could be the state's top star for the 2022-2023 campaign.

We’ve selected 10 boys high school basketball players from this season that we believe have stood out through the regular season and now playoffs. With the state championships just ahead, we look ahead at the state’s best.

These are just the candidates we’ve selected we ask you the fan to vote for who you think is the Player of the Year so far? Chime in, throw a name at us you think is deserving or just vote away in our poll below.

Jordan Butler, 6-foot-11 senior center, Christ Church

It sure helps at any level to have a big man in the middle who can play. When you have a 6-foot-11 center in high school, you've got something most prep teams don’t possess. Butler is averaging 20.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.9 blocks. Butler, the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association 1-A state player of the year, has signed with Missouri.

Elijah Crawford, 6-foot-2 junior point guard, Legacy Early College

Lots of people want this guy on their team. Boston College, Southern Methodist, Mississippi, LSU, South Carolina, Wichita State, Xavier, New Mexico State and Georgia State have extended scholarship offers to Crawford. That list is sure to grow.

Cam Scott, 6-foot-6 junior shooting guard, Lexington

This dynamic guard is on everyone’s radar. Scott, with his size, presents many matchup disadvantages at the high school level. The four-star prospect had 55 points combined in the Wildcats’ first two playoff games. Scott has 20 offers, including North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, Alabama, Clemson and Florida State.

Justin Daniels, Manning, 6-foot-1 senior point guard, Manning

Daniels is a player who can dominate games as evidenced by the 49 points he put up against Camden in the first round of the state playoffs. Blessed with a long wingspan, Daniels can play above the rim as well. He averaged 25.8 points, 9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.2 steals. Daniels has signed with Jacksonville.

Myles Squirewell, 6-foot-6 senior power forward, Lakewood

Squirewell is a big body post player at 245 pounds who can really control the middle. He scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the Gators’ upset win over Loris in the first round of the 3-A state playoffs. Squirewell averaged 19.6 points and 12.9 rebounds for the season.

Arden Conyers, Westwood, 6-foot-7 senior guard/forward, Westwood

Conyers had another outstanding season as he concluded his high school career. That led to his signing with South Carolina. Conyers also had offers from Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, North Carolina A&T, Radford, South Carolina State, Winthrop and Wofford.

Coen Carr, 6-foot-6 senior power forward, Legacy Early College

A four-star prospect, Carr signed with Michigan State. He had a lot of suitors. Indiana, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Connecticut, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, LSU, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Siena, South Carolina and Tennessee Tech also made offers to Carr.

Devin Grainger, 6-foot-2 senior guard, Conway

The Tigers hang their hats on defense and there isn't anyone better than Grainger, a versatile two-sport athlete who was also Conway;s quarterback. Grainger was named to the SCBCA 5-A all-state team.

Brandon Crawford, 6-foot-9 senior power forward, Irmo

Crawford was the SCBCA 4-A state player of the year. A solid rim protector, Crawford averaged 15.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.1 blocked shots. He was named player of the year in Region 5.

Montraivis White, 5-foot-11 senior point guard, Gray Collegiate

White is the motor that makes the defending 2-A state champion War Eagles hum. He leads Gray Collegiate with 14.5 points, 4.0 assists and 2.8 steals. White is the SCBCA 2-A state player of the year.
