Camden girls rout Loris to reach Lower State championship game

Joyce Edwards produced another huge game with 31 points as Camden routed Loris, 82-47, in the third round of the girls 3-A state playoffs.

The Bulldogs (27-2), who have not lost to a South Carolina team this season, will play Lower Richland on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Florence Center for the Lower State championship and a berth in the state championship game.

Camden stormed to a 30-8 lead after one quarter and was never challenged.

Edwards, a 6-foot-3 junior, is nearing 3,000 points for her career.

Morgan Champion scored 13 points for the Bulldogs and Zyasia Carter had 11.

Marisa Moody led Loris (18-10) with 11 points.

3-A girls

Wren 49, Blue Ridge 41

Raina McGowens scored 25 points to lead the Hurricanes, who are now 25-5. Wren will play Southside for the Upper State championship on Friday at Bob Jones University. Blue Ridge ended the season with a 24-5 record.

SCISA 4-A boys

First Baptist 84, Ben Lippen 58

Cooper Kowalski scored 26 points while Taye Robinson had 22 at the Sumter Civic Cent. The Hurricanes (19-4) advanced to the semifinals. Matty Foor added 11 points for First Baptist. Ben Lippen finished the season 18-7.

1-A boys

Christ Church 68, Calhoun Falls 44

D.J. Harvey led the Cavaliers with 30 points. Jordan Butler added 16 points. Christ Church will play Great Falls for the Upper State championship on Saturday at Bob Jones University. Calhoun Falls wound up its season with a 15-5 record.

4-A girls

North Augusta 49, Pickens 25

Celena Grant led the way with 18 points as the Yellow Jackets (24-3) walloped Pickens. Jadah O’Bryant had 10 points while P’eris Smith and Kenedi Wright each contributed 8. Pickens also has a 24-3 record.

2-A girls

Gray Collegiate 52, Fairfield Central 21

Maliyiah Mason scored 15 points and Kadence Walker-Lee had 13 as the War Eagles cruised to victory. Gray Collegiate (20-6) will face Keenan in the Upper State championship game on Friday at Bob Jones University. Fairfield Central finished with a 12-13 record. This will be Gray Collegiate’s first trip to the Upper State title game.

2-A girls

Bishop England 53, Timberland 30

Izzy Woods led the Bishops with 18 points. Hadley Irvine posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Bishop England (18-11) will play Andrew Jackson for the Lower State championship on Friday at noon at the Florence Civic Center.

4-A girls

A.C. Flora 57, Ridge View 24

Terriana Gray led the Falcons with 21 points. A.C. Flora (20-9) will play Westwood for the Lower State championship on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Florence Center.

3-A girls

Lower Richland 59, Crestwood 51

ChiNya Isaac scored 23 points to lead Lower Richland, which will make its first Lower State championship game in six years. Tyra Floyd had 16 points for the Diamond Hornets.

2-A girls

Keenan 60, Silver Bluff 46

MiLaysia Fulwiley scored 19 points but the Keenan star was sidelined in the third quarter with a calf injury. Tanaja Kennedy scored 18 points for the Raiders, who advanced to the Upper State championship game on Saturday at noon at Bob Jones University. Ahminah Taylor led Silver Bluff with 16 points.
