Photos: Ray holds on for 2-1 win over Corpus Christi Veterans at Whataburger Field
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Keevyn Goss pitched a complete game, allowing just four hits, to lead Ray to a 2-1 victory over Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial on Tuesday night at Whataburger Field.
The stadium is the home of the Corpus Christi Hooks, the Houston Astros' AA minor league franchise.
Ray scored both of its runs in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Rodriguez and an RBI single by freshman Dylan Quezada.
Veterans scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI from Tanner Johnson.
Goss pitched seven complete innings, allowing just one run on four hits to pick up the win. Quezada was a perfect 4 for 4 from the plate.
Veterans starter Xavier Perez pitched five scoreless innings before giving up two runs in the sixth. Johnson went 2 for 3 with an RBI in the loss.
