Duncanville's Anthony Black commits to Arkansas Razorbacks

The Panthers' five-star guard was named the District 11-6A Offensive Player of Year and the Class 6A MVP of the UIL Boys Basketball State Tournament for the 2021-22 season

Duncanville senior Anthony Black, the top-rated uncommitted Class of 2022 high school basketball recruit throughout Texas, revealed where he'll take the court next season.

On Monday evening, Black announced his commitment to Arkansas over Gonzaga, Oklahoma State, TCU and the NBA G-League's elite prospects team.

Black made his decision known by posing with a Razorbacks' baseball cap next to North Little Rock (Arkansas) small forward Nick Smith and Branson Link Academy (Missouri) guard Jordan Walsh at the Powerade Jamfest at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

Black took trips to see the campuses of all four schools in his top five, but visited Arkansas twice — once on an official recruiting visit in mid-September and again on an unofficial visit in late February, which was his last to any of the almost two dozen Division I schools that offered him scholarships.

He previously posted a video on Twitter and Instagram that alluded to the finalists among his ultimate list of potential destinations and his announcement date on the eve of the 2022 McDonald's High School All-American Game.

Black also posted a video on Twitter formally announcing his decision to sign with Arkansas, becoming the sixth member of the Razorbacks' stacked 2022 recruiting class that now features a trio of the country's most elite prospects.

With his commitment, Arkansas' six-man 2022 recruiting class now includes three five-star prospects in Black, Smith and Walsh — who are each set to play in Tuesday's McDonald's All-American game in Chicago too.

He will also be one of three Texas high school basketball standouts among the 24 players represented at the McDonald's All-American game, joining Dallas Kimball's Arterio Morris and Richardson's Cason Wallace who have committed to Texas and Kentucky, respectively.

Black has been labeled the highest-rated uncommitted recruited set to participate in this year's McDonald's All-American game by Sports Illustrated, which lists him as the No. 12 senior prospect nationally in its SI99 recruiting rankings.

"I try and keep things in perspective and just have fun," Black told Sports Illustrated. "That part is easy because I just love the game. I try not to let this decision stress me out because I remember where I came from. I know I’ll make the right decision in the end."

The Panthers' five-star guard was named the District 11-6A Offensive Player of Year and the Class 6A MVP of the UIL Boys Basketball State Tournament for the 2021-22 season.

Black also helped lead Duncanville (35-1) to its third Texas (UIL) 6A state championship game victory in the last four seasons with a 69-49 win over McKinney in mid-March.

He finished his senior season averaging 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game and shot 58.0% from the floor.
