Ryan Yaites, Under Armour All-American Texas safety, announcing commitment Friday

Guyer (Texas) four-star safety is down to a final four of California, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas Tech

One of the top defensive backs in the state of Texas is set to come off the board.

247Sports four-star safety and Under Armour All-American Game selection Ryan Yaites will announce his commitment Friday at 8:30 a.m. CT and is down to a final four of California, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas Tech.

Yaites, the nation's No. 19 safety, previewed his decision by discussing what stands out about each of his four finalists:

California: “The whole staff is a great, collective staff and they’ve done a great job recruiting me. They said no matter what happens they are going to push for me until the end.”

LSU: “It’s a great program. It’s DBU. Kerry Cooks, Brian Kelly, I’ve been talking to them since they were at Notre Dame. They’ve said from the beginning that they were going to do whatever they needed to do to get me.”

Ole Miss: “I’ve been talking to those guys since I was a little kid. I have Ole Miss ties since I was eight or nine years old. Now that I’m older and know what it's all about, it’s definitely interesting.”

Texas Tech: “Great energy. Coach Joey McGuire and all of the coaches show me love every day. The fans show me love on social media. They are building a special program and I could see myself being a part of that program."

As a junior, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back, out of Guyer High School (Denton, Texas), registered 42 tackles, eight pass break-ups and an interception.

Over the course of his recruitment, Yaites has generated more than 20 offers, including Auburn, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, TCU, Texas and USC.
