Top 30 right-handed pitchers in Texas high school baseball: A closer look at the Lone Star State's best players

With the 2022 Texas high school baseball playoffs about to start SBLive is taking a closer look at the top baseball players across the Lone Star State.

We started with an inside look at the Top 20 catchers, the Top 25 corner infielders, the Top 30 middle infielders and the Top 30 outfielders in the state. Now we're turning our attention to the Top 30 right-handed pitchers.

TOP 30 RIGHT-HANDED PITCHERS IN TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

(The list is in alphabetical order)

Garrett Baumann, sr., Cornerstone Christian

Baumann recently threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts against Laredo United. The TCU signee is the career strikeouts leader for Cornerstone Christian.

Blake Binderup, sr., College Station

A 6-foot-6 right-hander with a power arm, Binderup will stay home to play for Texas A&M. The senior has plenty of pop in his bat and can bring the heat with a mid-90s fastball.

Mason Bixby, jr., Johnson

The 6-foot-7 Bixby has plenty of life in his fastball, but the junior is an all-around pitcher with a good slider and changeup. Bixby is committed to TCU.

Garet Boehm, jr., Hutto

Boehm is a two-way standout with six home runs this season. When not hitting long balls, the Texas Tech commit blows opponents away with an upper-90s heater.

Tristan Bristow, so., Harlan

Bristow is an athletic sophomore arm with lots of potential to add velocity. The Vanderbilt commit is Perfect Game’s No. 21 national recruit for the class of 2024.

Murphy Brooks, sr., Bridgeland

Brooks is a physical two-way player who is known for his overpowering fastball and ability to hit long balls at the plate. Brooks has signed with TCU.

Caden Cline, sr., Lubbock-Cooper

Cline is the ace for 5A contender Lubbock-Cooper. The 6-foot-4 senior has easy velocity and is committed to pitch at the next level for Midland College.

Lucas Davenport, sr., Prosper

Standing 6-foot-6, Davenport is another physical arm from the right side. The Texas A&M signee keeps hitters guessing with a three-pitch mix, including a mid-90s fastball.

Ryan Dollar, sr., MacArthur

Dollar generates velocity with a near-effortless motion and can snap off a sharp slider when needed. The 6-foot-4 senior will play college baseball for Houston.

Bryson Dudley, sr., Cedar Ridge

Dudley is a unique prospect who is a standout pitcher and catcher for Cedar Ridge. The Texas &M signee has a good fastball and a powerful right-handed stroke at the plate.

Casan Evans, so., St. Pius X

Evans, rated the nation’s No. 71 overall prospect for the class of 2024 by Perfect Game, recently threw a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts over top-ranked private school Concordia Lutheran. Evans is also a terrific defensive infielder.

Jack Frankel, so., John Paul II

Frankel is a sophomore standout who already owns a mid-90s fastball. The Mississippi State commit is rated No. 8 overall nationally for the class of 2024 by Perfect Game.

Pierce George, sr., Lake Travis

Standing 6-foot-6 at 250 pounds, George is one of the most visually intimidating pitchers in the state. The Texas signee also has plenty of arm talent, and he’s pretty good with a bat in his hands, too.

Max Grubbs, sr., Martin

Grubbs has been a strikeout machine during his senior season at Martin. The Texas signee has a plus fastball and is also an impact player at the plate.

Ryan Hanks, sr., Klein Cain

Hanks recently tossed a one-hit complete game with seven strikeouts against Tomball. The Arizona State signee can also hit for power from the right side.

Luke Jackson, sr., Lake Travis

A rising senior, Jackson has a good fastball with command of his breaking pitches. The Texas A&M signee has touched 95 miles per hour this season for 6A power Lake Travis.

Barrett Kent, jr., Pottsboro

Kent is a feared hitter with an elite fastball. The Arkansas commit recently tossed a 10-strikeout perfect game while ripping a double and two RBIs at the plate.

Jack Livingstone, sr., Lovejoy

Livingstone accomplished a rare feat last month by throwing consecutive no-hitters. The 6-foot-4 future Texas Tech Red Raider is hoping to lead Lovejoy to the 5A title.

Jonny Lowe, sr., Rockwall-Heath

Lowe is a power-hitting third baseman who is also one of Rockwall-Heath’s top arms. The McLennan signee recently threw a two-hit, complete-game shutout with 13 strikeouts.

Collin McKinney, sr., Clear Creek

McKinney is an imposing 6-foot-6 senior with a powerful fastball. The Baylor signee recently fired a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts against Dickinson.

Ridge Morgan, so., Westwood

Morgan, one of the top sophomore pitchers in the state, has been an impact player at the varsity level since his freshman season. He helped lead Westwood to its first district title in 20 years.

Hayden Morris, jr., Oak Ridge

Morris is another physical specimen at 6-foot-8 and 255 pounds. The Texas commit has been dominant on the mound for Oak Ridge as a junior.

Jake Neely, so., Clark

Only a sophomore, Neely already has a good fastball and the ability to snap off breaking balls. He remains uncommitted but is one of Texas’ top pitchers for the class of 2024.

Xavier Perez, sr., Veterans Memorial

Perez is a well-built senior who uses a three-pitch mix to keep opposing batters off balance. He is also a strong offensive player who recently gave a verbal commitment to Texas State.

Cole Phillips, sr., Boerne

Phillips, Perfect Game’s No. 30 national recruit for the class of 2020, has touched 100 miles per hour with his fastball. The Arkansas signee suffered a season-ending arm injury in March.

Dominick Reid, sr., Lone Star

Reid has multiple pitches in his arsenal but likes to bring the heat from the right side. The Oklahoma State signee recently had 14 strikeouts in 5 1/3 shutout innings against Heritage.

Chase Shores, sr., Midland Legacy

Standing 6-foot-8 with an upper-90s fastball, Shores is one of the toolsiest players in Texas. Shores, rated the nation’s No. 17 overall prospect by Perfect Game and the state’s top senior, will have to decide between LSU or professional baseball this summer.

Travis Sykora, jr., Round Rock

Sykora, a Texas commit, is an elite two-way player who is rated the nation’s No. 8 overall junior by Perfect Game. The 6-foot-4 Sykora is a natural defensive infielder with a high-90s fastball.

Jax Traeger, sr., Concordia Lutheran

Traeger recently returned to the mound less than a year after Tommy John surgery. The TCU signee struck out the side in his first appearance back as his younger brother, Nolan, caught.

Tate Yardley, sr., Jim Ned

A standout at the 3A level, Yardley is a two-way difference-maker for Jim Ned. The senior has signed to pitch for Texas Tech.
