TOP 25 LEFT-HANDED PITCHERS IN TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

(The list is in alphabetical order)

Ben Abeldt, sr., McKinney Boyd

Abeldt is a classic deceptive left-hander with swing-and-miss stuff. The TCU signee can run his fastball up to the low 90s and is a good defender coming off the mound.

Zane Adams, jr., Porter

Adams is a 6-foot-4 junior who uses his long arms to generate easy velocity. The Alabama commit has been sidelined with a leg injury.

Brandon Arvidson, sr., Dropping Springs

Arvidson is a standout pitcher for Dropping Springs who also gets it done at the plate. The imposing 6-foot-5 senior has signed to play college ball for Texas A&M.

Michael Benzor, sr., Porter

Teammates with Zane Adams at Porter, Benzor is an Oklahoma State signee with plus stuff. Benzor tossed a two-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts in early April against Candy Creek.

Dante Cano, sr., Wylie

Cano is an physically dominant 6-foot-4 senior whose fastball sits in the low 90s. The Texas Tech signee also has a plus breaking ball to keep batters off balance.

Zach Erdman, sr., Keller

Erdman has impeccable control and an easy delivery from the left side. The Texas Tech signee relies more on control than velocity and excels at mixing three pitches.

Sean Fitzpatrick, sr., Concordia Lutheran

Fitzpatrick recently went 3 for 3 at the plate and had eight punch-outs in the same game as Concordia Lutheran clinched the district title. The senior ace has signed with Arkansas.

Edward Hart, sr., Alamo Heights

Hart is a 6-foot-5 left-hander who had 13 strikeouts while driving in four runs with a homer in a recent win over Champion. The Duke signee has been a strikeout machine for Alamo Heights.

Griffin Herring, sr., Southlake Carroll

Herring added a bunch of weight following his junior season and has an impressive three-pitch mix. The LSU signee threw a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a mid-April win over Eaton.

JC Gutierrez, sr., La Joya

Though a little undersized at 5-foot-10 and change, Gutierrez knows how to put up zeroes. The Texas Tech signee fired a 15-strikeout no-hitter earlier this season.

Gavyn Jones, jr., White Oak

Jones missed a chunk of his junior season due to injury but is back to full health. He is a power pitcher who also rakes from the left side of the plate.

Aidan Lamar, jr., Prosper

Lamar is a two-way standout for Propser who roams the outfield and shuts opponents down on the mound. The Texas A&M-Corpus Cristi commit knows how to work off his fastball.

Justin Lamkin, sr., Calallen

Justin Lamkin, sr., Calallen

Lamkin had one of the best outings of the season in March, throwing a seven-inning no-hitter with 21 strikeouts. The only blemish for the Texas A&M signee was a batter who reached via error.

Bryce Navarre, so., Montgomery

Navarre is a strong two-way player who recently committed to Texas A&M. He has a good fastball and could also play first base at the next level.

Park Prater, so., Argyle

A rising sophomore for 4A title contender Argyle, Prater has a good stroke from the left side. He is also a feared pitcher with a nasty breaking ball.

Owen Proksch, sr., Southlake Carroll

Proksch is a 6-foot-4 left-hander who is headed to Duke for college. The senior has starred at the plate and on the mound this season, often in the same game.

Mason Ruiz, sr., Bryan

Ruiz fired a no-hitter in a recent victory over Killeen. When not pitching, the Texas A&M signee plays first base and is a menace in the middle of Bryan’s lineup.

Shane Sdao, sr., Lake Creek

Sdao is an experienced senior who knows how to pitch. The Texas A&M signee also has plenty of pop in his bat from the left side of the plate.

Brayden Sharp, jr., The Woodlands

Sharp, Perfect Game’s No. 98 national recruit for the class of 2023, is another two-way standout. The Baylor commit has a ton of speed in the outfield and also brings it on the mound.

Trenton Shaw, sr., Prestonwood Christian

Shaw is an intimidating presence on the mound at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds. The Oklahoma State signee recently threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts against Dallas Christian.

Jared Thomas, sr., Waxahachie

Thomas threw a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts to clinch a playoff spot for Waxahachie. The Texas signee is also a standout at the plate with a smooth swing from the left side.

JD Thompson, sr., Rusk

Thompson, a Vanderbilt signee, is a strike-throwing senior who knows how to mix and match. He recently threw a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts in a victory over Jasper.

Austin Vargas, jr., Fulshear

Entering the postseason, Vargas has 96 strikeouts in 44 innings this season. The Houston commit needed only 83 pitches to strike out 17 in a six-inning perfect game in late April.

Cooper Williams, so., Alvin

Williams had 14 strikeouts while throwing a one-hitter in a recent victory over Strake Jesuit. The sophomore has very good feel with three pitches.

John Youens, jr., Bosqueville

Youens has been racking up impressive offensive stats as a junior while dominating on the mound for Bosqueville. Youens has committed to his hometown Baylor Bears.
