Calallen beats Boerne in Texas 4A baseball regional semifinals; coach Steve Chapman becomes state's all-time wins leader
Chapman's 1,116 career victories are the most in Texas high school baseball history
SAN ANTONIO - It came down to a thrilling third game - and Calallen came through again.
After dropping Game 2 earlier Saturday afternoon, Calallen edged Boerne 2-1 in eight innings in Game 3 to advance to the 4A baseball regional finals.
The Game 3 victory was win No. 1,116 for Calallen coach Steve Chapman, making him the winningest coach in Texas high school baseball history. Chapman passed Bobby Moegle, who coached at Lubbock Monterey from 1960 to 1999.
Tres Vasquez drove in the game-winning run for Calallen, who will face Sinton in the regional final next week.
