Georgetown rallies in extras to beat Aledo in 5A Texas UIL Softball State Semifinals
AUSTIN, Texas — Georgetown had to survive a late-inning scare during the Region IV championship game to book its ticket back to the Class 5A UIL Softball State Tournament.
Matched up against a familiar foe, the Eagles carried their clutch play into Friday afternoon’s 5A state semifinal game against Aledo, who eliminated them during the same round last year.

Georgetown thwarted a Bearcats’ comeback attempt with a two-out rally in extra innings and a lights-out final frame by sophomore pitcher Cambree Creager to beat Aledo 3-2 in eight innings at Red & Charline McCombs Field.
The Eagles advance to the 5A state championship game where they will face Montgomery Lake Creek in a battle between two Texas high school softball powerhouses playing for their first state titles.
