Leighann Goode, Jada Munoz power San Antonio O’Connor past El Paso Americas in 6A Texas UIL Softball State Semifinals
AUSTIN, Texas — Senior shortstop Leighann Goode knew her time to shine at Red & Charline McCombs Field would be here soon, just not while she was still wearing her high school uniform.
The Texas signee led a stacked San Antonio O’Connor squad into the Class 6A UIL Softball State Tournament for the first time since 2012 and starred during her first game at the Longhorns’ softball stadium.
Goode and senior second baseman Jada Munoz, a McNeese State signee, put on a defensive clinic up the middle and powered the Panthers at the plate to highlight a huge 7-5 comeback win for O’Connor over El Paso Americas on Friday afternoon in the 6A state semifinals.
