San Antonio O’Connor walks off against Mansfield Lake Ridge to win Texas 6A Softball State Championship
AUSTIN — Down to its final three outs, San Antonio O’Connor needed two runs to secure its first softball state championship.
The Panthers trailed Mansfield Lake Ridge 6-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning of Saturday’s Class 6A UIL Softball State Championship game when Jada Munoz stepped into the box.
The senior second baseman smacked a high-and-inside pitch on a 2-2 count and clobbered a towering solo home run down the left field line to tie the game.

Munoz’s moonshot to lead off the seventh sparked a rally in the final frame that culminated in a walk-off walk with the bases loaded, as the Panthers’ clawed their way to a 7-6 comeback win over Mansfield Lake Ridge and capture the 6A state title.
The victory also marked San Antonio O’Connor’s first state title in school history during their sixth trip to the UIL Softball State Tournament.
