Congratulations to Royse City football junior quarterback Kenneth Spring for being voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 10-16!

Spring punched in the game-winning score on a 1-yard touchdown run with 64 seconds remaining in Royse City's 43-38 win over Mesquite in a District 10-6A game that featured 10 lead changes during Week 8.

He threw for 243 yards and a touchdown on 14-of-21 passing and ran for 104 yards and two rushing touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to their 43-38 victory against the Skeeters.

Spring ran away with our latest Texas Athlete of the Week vote to capture this week's honor, receiving 87.50% of the vote. Aledo QB Hauss Hejny finished second with 10.77% of the vote.

Spring and the Bulldogs kept rolling during Week 8, taking care of business on the road with a 47-22 win over Tyler Legacy.

Royse City (5-3, 3-1) returns to action looking to secure its third straight win in district play when the Bulldogs face the Rockwall Heath Hawks (5-3, 2-2) at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Royse City ISD Stadium.

DJ Lagway, Willis QB

Lagway completed 15 of 21 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns through the air in the Wildkats’ 49-0 drubbing of district rival Conroe Caney Creek. He also scrambled five times for 91 rushing yards and three touchdown runs.

PJ Hatter, Spring Westfield QB

Rutherford put the Mustangs’ offense on his back in a 64-0 shutout win over Aldine Eisenhower in district play. He was 15-of-23 passing for 200 yards and three TDs and also ran seven times for 90 yards and a pair of rushing scores.

Tyler Hill, San Angelo Central QB

Mettaur threw for four touchdown passes and 196 yards on 16-of-20 passing and ran 13 times for 123 rushing yards and two rushing TDs to lead the Bobcats to a 57-34 victory against Odessa in district play.

Jadon Williams, Victoria East QB

Williams completed 12 of 17 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 48 yards and two rushing TDs to lead the Titans to a lopsided 52-14 win against Corpus Christi King on Friday.

Seth Williams, Galveston Ball QB

Williams went off during Galveston Ball’s 63-0 blowout win against Houston Milby in district play Friday, throwing for 225 yards and four TDs on 8-of-12 passing.

Bobby Garcia, Edinburg Vela QB

Garcia completed 8 of 9 passes for 239 yards and four touchdowns through the air in the SaberCats’ lopsided 59-7 road win over McAllen in district play.

Lucas Powell, Lumberton QB

Powell was excellent through the air Friday night, completing 12 of 15 passes for 222 yards and five passing TDs. He also scrambled nine times for 54 rushing yards to lead the Raiders to a 47-21 district victory over Vidor, Lumberton’s sixth straight win.

Blake Flowers, Seminole QB

In the Indians’ 48-32 district win over Borger on Friday night, Flowers threw for 434 yards and five TDs through the air on 27-of-38 passing and ran 15 times for 120 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Marcus Turner, West Orange-Stark QB

Turner shined in the Mustangs’ dominant 47-0 road win against Bridge City, throwing for 159 yards and four touchdowns on 8-of-17 passing. He also ran four times for 94 yards and a rushing touchdown for West Orange-Stark.

Emonte ‘Cash’ Cross, Center QB

Cross powered the Roughriders’ high-flying offense Friday night and led Center to a 63-21 win against Van in district play. He completed 11 of 18 pass attempts for 276 yards and five TDs through the air and also ran four times for 37 rushing yards.

Josh Green, Whitehouse QB

Green carried the ball 21 times for 163 yards and a touchdown and completed 13 of 17 passes for 210 yards and two scores in the Wildcats' win over Hallsville.

Mason Brisbane, Silsbee QB

Brisbane was outstanding through the air in the Tigers’ 63-6 blowout victory over Liberty, throwing for 241 yards and four TDs on 12-of-16 passing to help Silsbee improve to 7-0.

Hudson White, Glen Rose QB

White had a tremendous performance against district rival Godley on Friday, completing 9 of 18 passes for 177 yards and two TDs through the air to lead the Tigers to a 69-35 road win. He also ran for 142 rushing yards and two touchdown runs on 10 carries.

Braylan Drake, Cameron Yoe QB

Drake completed 13 of 18 pass attempts for 250 yards and four TDs through the air to lead the Yoemen to a 58-21 road win against McGregor on Friday night. He also tallied 78 rushing yards and a touchdown run on four carries.

Brooks Carter, Shallowater QB

Carter threw for 324 yards and five touchdowns on a perfect 9-of-9 passing to lead the Mustangs to a 71-39 victory over Dalhart in district play.

Haydn Harris, Diboll QB

Harris was superb Friday night when he completed 19 of 28 passes for 286 yards and five touchdowns through the air to lead the Lumberjacks to a 54-26 win over Shepherd. He also scrambled three times for 13 yards and a rushing score, his sixth touchdown of the game for Diboll.

Ralon Williams, Woodville QB

Williams was 9-of-13 passing for 338 yards and six TDs through the air to lead the Eagles to a 54-12 blowout victory against Huntington. He also recorded a team-high 63 rushing yards and a touchdown run on five carries for Woodville on Friday.

Camren Cavalier, Canadian QB

Cavalier completed 11 of 20 passes for 149 yards and two TDs through the air and scrambled eight times for 132 rushing yards and a pair of touchdown runs to lead the Wildcats to a 42-3 victory against Spearman.

JJ Acosta, Taft QB

Acosta completed 19 of 24 passes for 385 yards and four TDs and scrambled 11 times for 108 yards and a rushing touchdown in the Greyhounds' 43-7 road win over Monte Alto.

Kyle Bures-Guerrero, Ganado QB

In Ganado’s blowout 58-0 district victory against Bloomington, Bures-Guerrero completed 13 of 23 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He also ran 14 times for 114 rushing yards and five touchdowns for the Indians.

Kyle Finan, Rosebud-Lott QB

In the Cougars' 53-52 shootout win on the road against Bosqueville, Finan completed 11 of 27 passes for 152 yards and three TDs through the air. He also tacked on 263 rushing yards and three of four touchdown runs for Rosebud-Lott on 22 carries.

Caden Soliz, Three Rivers QB

Soliz accounted for 319 total yards and six touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 61-17 road win against Kenedy in district play. He threw for 184 yards and four TDs through the air on 10-of-14 passing and scrambled eight times for 135 rushing yards and a pair of touchdown runs.

Terry Bussey, Timpson QB

Bussey threw for 149 yards and four TDs on touchdown passes of 48, 23, 14 and 10 yards to lead the Bears to a 71-8 district win over West Sabine on Friday night. He also ran four times for two touchdowns and 114 rushing yards and found the end zone for the seventh time on a pick-six defensively when he scored on a 48-yard interception return touchdown.

Bryce Braden, Stratford QB

Braden threw for 101 yards and a touchdown on 5-of-8 passing and racked up 213 yards and three rushing TDs on 22 carries to power the Elks’ ground game in a 40-35 win over Panhandle.

Logan Cope, Windthorst QB

Cope’s breakout game helped Windthorst take down Munday in a 47-12 victory, during which he threw for 348 yards and five TDs on 18-of-22 passing.

Byron Eaton Jr., Dallas Lincoln QB

Eaton threw for 158 yards and two TDs on 15-of-23 passing and ran seven times for 106 rushing yards and three touchdown runs, as Lincoln beat Wills Point in a 68-30 district victory.

Brennan Myer, Frisco Wakeland QB

Myer completed 19 of 24 pass attempts for 313 yards and five touchdowns to power the Wolverines to a 42-14 victory against district rival Frisco Centennial.

Cam McGuire, Dallas Wilson QB

McGuire threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns on 18-of-25 passing and also rushed for 21 yards, as the Wildcats overwhelmed Dallas Hillcrest 24-20 in their district matchup Thursday night.

Tyler Moody, Brock QB

Moody was 15-of-24 passing for 176 yards and three touchdowns — including two TD passes during the final 4 minutes of the fourth quarter and also ran 11 times for 52 rushing yards to spark a rally in Brock’s 39-35 comeback win against previously undefeated Whitesboro.

Trevor Ham, Melissa QB

Ham completed 20 of 28 pass attempts for 292 yards and four touchdowns through the air, as Melissa beat Denison 54-44 in district play.

Jack Fishpaw, Coppell QB

Fishpaw completed 18 of 24 passes for 324 yards and six touchdowns and also ran seven times for 33 rushing yards to lead the Cowboys past Plano East in a 49-14 district win.

Kaden Brown, Midlothian Heritage QB

Brown tallied 256 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air on 18-of-26 passing and 118 rushing yards on 23 carries to help Midlothian Heritage escape with a 38-35 win over Ennis on Friday to stay in first-place tie with Everman in their district standings.

Kenneth Spring, Royse City QB

Spring scored on a 1-yard run with 64 seconds remaining to propel Royse City to a 43-38 victory over Mesquite in a game that featured 10 lead changes and 1,026 total yards of offense collectively. He finished with 104 yards and two rushing scores on the ground, as well as a 14-of-21 passing mark for 243 yards and a touchdown through the air.

Jake Wilson, Trophy Club Byron Nelson QB

Wilson — who entered Week 8 leading 6A DFW-area quarterbacks in passing yards and touchdown passes this fall — continued his sensational season by throwing for 365 yards and two touchdowns on 21-of-26 passing, as Byron Nelson beat Keller 45-17 to improve to 7-0 overall and stay tied with Southlake Carroll for first place in their district. He also scrambled nine times for 53 rushing yards and a touchdown run.

Hauss Hejny, Aledo QB

Hejny had his best game of the season in the Bearcats’ 64-21 blowout win over Burleson Centennial on Friday night, which vaulted Aledo into first place in their district. He threw for 276 yards and four TDs on 12-of-13 passing and ran for 175 yards and another two rushing scores on 12 carries.

Logan Jenkins, Collinsville QB

Jenkins was excellent through the air Friday with 230 passing yards and seven touchdowns on 15-of-23 passing to fuel a huge offensive night for Collinsville in a 76-6 blowout win over Era.

Kade Eudy, Crosby QB/K

Eudy racked up 418 yards and seven TDs through the air on 20-of-25 passing during a dynamic performance in the Cougars’ 69-21 rout of Baytown Sterling. He also ended the game with 35 rushing yards rushing and a 7-for-7 mark on extra-points as Crosby’s PAT kicker.

Mark Moore, El Paso Americas QB

Moore was an electrifying dual-threat QB in a back-and-forth district game Friday against El Paso El Dorado. He ran 25 times for 216 rushing yards and six touchdown runs — all team highs — and completed 11 of 14 passes for 171 yards and a seventh touchdown through the air.

Ayden Barrett, Bullard QB

Barrett completed 15 of 29 passes for 286 yards and three passing TDs and also rushed for a fourth touchdown to lead the way for Bullard in a 29-21 win against Canton.

Mike Jones, Malakoff QB

Jones was 12 of 14 passing for 144 yards and four touchdowns to lead Malakoff in a 77-0 rout of Eustace on Friday night

Boston Seahorn, Big Sandy Harmony QB

Seahorn completed 12 of 22 passes for 222 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-0 win over Queen City.

David Potter, Texarkana Texas High QB

Potter completed 13 of 21 passes for 276 yards and four touchdowns in the Tigers' 42-35 victory against Marshall.


RUSHING STARS

Moe Canales, Deer Park RB

Canales rushed for 213 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries and also caught a 25-yard pass to help lead Deer Park past Pasadena Memorial 47-14, as the Deer won their third straight district game to remain undefeated.

Jeremy Payne, Fort Bend Hightower RB

Payne ran for 140 yards and four rushing TDs on just seven carries Friday night, powering the Hurricanes to a 50-0 district win at Richmond George Ranch.

Lloyd Avant, Humble Summer Creek RB

Avant helped the Bulldogs bounce back with a dominant 56-7 district win over Kingwood in Week 8 by running for 168 yards and five rushing touchdowns on 25 carries for Summer Creek.

Andrew Petter, Georgetown RB

Petter starred in the Eagles’ 59-19 district victory against crosstown rival Georgetown East View, rushing nine times for 132 yards and four touchdown runs Friday night.

Cameron Dischler, Orangefield RB

Dischler turned heads around East Texas on Friday night when he finished with 324 rushing yards and five touchdown runs on 15 carries in the Bobcats’ 61-7 road win against district rival Hardin.

Benjamin Limon, Laredo Nixon RB

Limon was a major factor in the Mustangs’ power-rushing attack in a 56-35 win against South San Antonio, running 20 times for 211 yards and five rushing TDs Friday night.

Kasen Taylor, Lorena RB

Taylor ran for 255 yards and two rushing TDs on just nine carries to lead the Leopards to a 63-20 district victory over Rockdale on Friday.

Sedrick Alexander, Austin LBJ RB

Alexander, a Vanderbilt commit, helped the Jaguars dismantle Austin Navarro in a 70-0 district win by recording 225 rushing yards and five touchdown runs on 16 carries. He also caught one pass for a 24-yard receiving score, his sixth touchdown of the game for LBJ.

Dalvin Batts, Gregory-Portland RB

Batts stole the spotlight Friday during the Wildcats’ 44-0 shutout win on the road against Edcouch-Elsa in district play, logging 20 carries for 205 rushing yards and scoring on three of G-P’s four touchdown runs.

Caleb Bell, Texas City RB

Ball was an instrumental part of Texas City’s virtually unstoppable rushing attack Friday night, which racked up 590 total yards on the ground in a 50-6 victory over Fort Bend Willowridge. He ended the game with 13 carries for 259 yards and four rushing TDs for the Stingarees.

Gabe Gayton, Celina RB

In the Bobcats’ 37-17 road win against district rival Wilmer-Hutchins, Gayton tallied 27 carries for 261 rushing yards and all four of Celina’s touchdown runs — which were all season highs — on Friday night.

Zakai Anderson, Brookshire Royal RB

Anderson rushed 22 times Friday night for 201 yards and three TDs on the ground to lead Royal to a 52-12 victory against Wharton in district play.

Ethan Santos, Devine RB

Santos ran for 135 yards and four rushing TDs on 14 carries Friday night in the Warhorses’ 54-6 road win over Carrizo Springs. He also caught a 40-yard touchdown pass, his fifth score of the game for Devine.

Elijah Huff, Corpus Christi West Oso RB

Huff toted the ball 35 times for 407 rushing yards and five touchdown runs — all career highs — to lead the Bears to an 81-57 shootout win over district rival Robstown on the road.

Mackenzie McGill, Mt. Vernon RB

McGill rushed for 217 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries and also caught three passes for 60 receiving yards to help lead Mt. Vernon to a 77-27 blowout win against Emory Rains.

Kaeden Landry, Dallas Carter RB

Landry ran 13 times for 200 yards and four rushing TDs to lead Carter to a dominant 55-7 district victory over Carrollton Ranchview on Thursday.

Jambres Dubar, Anna RB

Dubar was an irreplaceable part of Anna’s big offensive night in a 42-21 win against Kaufman, as the Coyotes racked up 483 total yards of offense. He powered the Coyotes’ electric running game with 238 yards and three rushing TDs on 24 carries and also caught two passes for 27 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Caden Durham, Duncanville RB

Durham dominated out of the backfield for the Panthers on Friday night, tallying eight carries for 142 yards and three rushing TDs in Duncanville’s 38-3 win over Mansfield in a battle of unbeaten 6A squads Friday.

Robert Brown, Arlington Lamar RB

Brown was a key part of Arlington Lamar’s 28-21 district win over Grand Prairie. He fueled the Vikings’ offense with 149 yards and three TDs on the ground, and he also scored the game-winning touchdown on a 6-yard run with 43 seconds left during the fourth quarter.

Jayden Walker, McKinney North RB

Walker scored on back-to-back TD runs during the first two overtime periods Friday night, and then punched in the game-winning two-point conversion during the third OT as McKinney North beat Lufkin 53-51 in triple overtime. He ended the game with 139 rushing yards and four touchdown runs on 37 carries and also caught a 10-yard touchdown pass, his fifth trip to the end zone Friday.

Brian Furch, Fort Worth Arlington Heights RB

Furch ran for 278 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries to power Arlington Heights to a 41-31 upset victory over Colleyville Heritage in district play.

Matthew Mainord, Lucas Lovejoy RB

Mainord rushed for 221 yards and a pair of touchdown runs on 30 carries in the Leopards’ 49-35 win against Crandall.

Owen Allen, Southlake Carroll RB

Allen rushed for 195 yards and a pair of rushing TDs on 12 carries — averaging 16.3 yards per touch — to power the Dragons offensively in their 49-3 victory over Keller Central in district play.

Kenneth York, Whitewright RB

York’s big night on the ground helped the Whitewright Tigers snap a four-game losing streak and win their Highway-11 rivalry game against Tom Bean 40-6 on Friday night. He ended the game with 14 carries for 117 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Major McBride, Pottsboro RB

McBride scored on a pair of touchdown runs during the fourth quarter, the latter with less than 3 minutes remaining, to cap off an 19-point, second-half comeback as Pottsboro rallied for a 36-35 win over previously unbeaten Winnsboro. He finished Friday night with 171 rushing yards and three touchdown runs on 23 carries, as well as five catches for 54 receiving yards.

Ethan Sloan, Gunter RB

Sloan tallied 129 rushing yards and a pair of touchdown runs on 13 carries Friday night, as Gunter capitalized on a strong second-half performance to beat the Howe Bulldogs 54-21 in district action and improved to 7-0 this season.

Brock Baker, Bells RB

Baker headlined a virtually unstoppable Panthers’ rushing attack that racked up nearly 600 yards on the ground in Bells’ lopsided 82-32 win over Blue Ridge in district play. He ran for 275 yards and four touchdowns on 10 carries.

Jaden Mahan, Van Alstyne RB

Mahan ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries to lead the Panthers to a 53-10 win over Farmersville in district action.

Chase Evans, Tioga RB

Evans racked up 181 rushing yards and two touchdown runs on 16 carries, as Tioga beat Alvord 35-14 in a battle for first place in district play.

Karomo Collins, Plainview RB/WR

Collins put the Bulldogs' offense on his back with a monster performance on the ground and through the air Friday. He rushed for 169 yards and a trio of touchdown runs and also caught nine passes for 255 yards and three receiving TDs to headline a big night for Plainview in a 62-19 road win over Lubbock.

Tycen Williams, Cuero RB

Williams carried the ball 13 times for 164 yards and three touchdown runs to headline the Gobblers’ rushing attack in a 56-13 district win against Gonzales.

Tyson Berry, Tyler Chapel Hill RB/WR

In a 79-45 win over Lindale, Berry accounted for six touchdowns. He had four carries for 85 yards and three rushing touchdowns, three catches for 90 yards and a receiving touchdown, and four kickoff returns for 212 yards and two special teams touchdowns.

Dawson Pendergrass, Mineola RB

Pendergrass carried the ball 21 times for 285 yards and five touchdowns, completed 5 of 9 passes for 153 yards and two scores and added a pair of 2-point conversions in the Yellowjackets' 68-20 win over Bonham.

Taj'Shawn Wilson, Palestine RB

In a 55-52 win over Jacksonville, Wilson ran 16 times for 180 yards and four touchdowns and added eight tackles, a tackle for loss, three pass breakups and a forced fumble on defense.

Kevin Pierce, Troup RB

Pierce carried the rock 14 times for 123 yards and three touchdowns in a 40-14 win over Arp.

Mill Walters, Fort Worth All Saints RB/WR

Walters had four catches for 72 yards and two receiving TDs, including the game-winning touchdown catch in an overtime victory over Spring Frassati Catholic. Walters also had 16 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown run, and tacked on a rushing two-point conversion that won the game 21-19 in overtime.

Kelvin Washington, Longview RB

Washington toted the ball 13 times for 104 yards and three touchdowns and caught two passes for 70 yards and a TD in the Lobos' 42-19 win over North Mesquite.

Ashton Haynes, Gilmer RB

Haynes racked up 13 carries for 101 yards and three rushing TDs in the Buckeyes' 59-20 win over Liberty-Eylau.

Trevor Bolden, Hughes Springs RB

Bolden carried the ball 24 times for 195 yards and three touchdowns in the Mustangs' 32-8 win over New Diana.

Noah Murphy, New London West Rusk RB

Murphy rushed for 152 yards on 17 carries in the Raiders' 38-35 win over Grand Saline.

J’Koby Williams, Beckville RB

Williams ran eight times for 200 yards and four touchdowns and also caught a 56-yard TD pass in a 62-7 win over Ore City.

Bryce Still, Overton RB

Still rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries and completed 5 of 8 passes for 189 yards and three more passing TDs in Overton’s 47-38 win over Mount Enterprise.

Sawyer Wilkerson, Comanche RB

Wilkerson racked up 272 rushing yards and four touchdown runs on 29 carries and caught a 48-yard pass to power Comanche’s ground game in a 53-33 road win over Jacksboro.

Johntay Cook II, DeSoto WR

Cook, a five-star Texas Longhorns pledge, hauled in 10 catches for 230 yards and five receiving TDs as part of a monster offensive performance by DeSoto in an 86-26 victory over Mansfield Lake Ridge in district action.

Tate Beeles, Wolfforth Frenship WR

Beeles pulled down 16 receptions for 246 yards — both career highs — and three touchdown catches to lead Wolfforth Frenship to a 42-38 road win over Midland.

Devin Matthews, Seguin WR

Matthews starred in Seguin’s 41-34 shootout win against Buda Hays in district play Friday night, catching nine of the Matadors’ 12 combined receptions for 168 yards and three touchdown grabs.

Jake Musso, Dallas Jesuit WR

Schmidt threw for 384 yards and five touchdowns in a 58-31 win over Richardson Berkner. Jake Musso finished with 12 catches for 278 receiving yards and four touchdowns, as Jesuit rolled to a 58-31 win over Richardson Berkner to keep pace in their district title race.

D’Andre Fillmore, Victoria West WR

Fillmore led the way for Victoria West’s receiving corps in a 54-10 blowout win against Corpus Christi Ray, tallying 142 yards and four receiving TDs — both season highs — on five catches.

Micah Hudson, Lake Belton WR

Hudson, the Lone Star State’s top-ranked WR recruit in the Class of 2024, caught five passes for 134 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos’ 69-14 win over Granbury.

Ja’Quan Holmes, Port Arthur Memorial WR

In a 67-6 win over district rival Baytown Goose Creek Memorial, Holmes caught six passes for 157 yards and three TDs on touchdown catches of 60, 54 and 6 yards.

Xayvion Noland, New Braunfels Canyon WR

Noland put on a show Friday night for the Cougars, catching seven passes for 117 yards and three receiving TDs to lead Canyon to a lopsided 49-14 district win against Kyle Lehman.

Jordan Nation, Wellington WR

Nation caught four passes for 103 yards and three receiving TDs in the Skyrockets’ 50-0 rout of Memphis on Friday night.

Montaz Williams, Red Oak WR

Williams hauled in four receptions for 146 yards and two touchdown catches in Red Oak’s 49-3 district victory against Cleburne on Friday.

Isaac Khattab, Flower Mound Marcus WR

Khattab racked up 112 receiving yards and three TDs on four catches, as the Marauders pulled out a 42-20 district win over Plano West.

Darious Johnson, Dallas Madison WR

Johnson tallied 117 receiving yards and two touchdown grabs on five catches in Madison’s 55-53 shootout victory against district rival Life Oak Cliff on Thursday night.

Alijah Cason, Dallas First Baptist WR/QB

Cason accounted for 478 total yards, six touchdowns and three two-point conversions, including game-winner in OT, during the Saints’ 50-49 overtime win over Weatherford Christian on Friday. Ka’Morreun Pimpton, North Crowley WR/TE

Pimpton, a three-star Vanderbilt commit, had a huge night Friday with seven catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns. His big game through the air helped the Panthers pull away from Weatherford for a 47-27 win and stay perfect with a 7-0 record, North Crowley’s best start in program history.

Carterrious Brown, Arlington Seguin WR

Brown led Arlington Seguin with four touchdown receptions in the Cougars’ 47-7 win over Joshua. He had scoring catches of 65, 62, 55 and 4 yards for Seguin and caught five total passes for 197 receiving yards Friday night.

Aeryn Hampton, Daingerfield WR

In the Tigers' 54-6 win over Elysian Fields, Hampton caught six passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns and returned a punt 67 yards for a TD.

Braden Regala, Abilene Wylie WR

Regala had a career night and helped the Bulldogs come from behind to beat Wichita Falls Rider 39-38 on Thursday. He caught seven passes on the night for 206 yards and three touchdowns.


DEFENSIVE/SPECIAL TEAMS STARS

Brian Nelson II, Alvin Shadow Creek CB

Nelson finished Friday’s 52-0 win against district rival Alvin with a tackle and an interception that was returned 40 yards defensively. He also scored on a 58-yard punt return touchdown for the Sharks on special teams.

Xzavier Whaley, Madisonville DE

Whaley was a one-man wrecking crew on defense Friday night for the Mustangs. He tallied nine total tackles (nine solo), a sack, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown to lead Madisonville to a 65-23 win over Robinson.

Denim Collins, Austin Westlake CB

Collins shined defensively in the Chaparrals 47th straight win on Friday night, a 29-10 victory over previously unbeaten Dripping Springs. He finished with a team-high nine tackles (six solo), a pass deflection and a fourth-quarter interception for Westlake.

D’Arius Carmouche, South Grand Prairie DB

Carmouche recorded 10 total tackles (six solo), three interceptions and returned a picked-off pass on a two-point conversion attempt back 100 yards for a safety in a 44-30 win against Arlington.

D'myyn Evans Smith, Mesquite Horn LB

Smith was an unstoppable force wherever the Jaguars lined him up on defense or special teams Friday night against Tyler Legacy. He tallied seven tackles, three pass deflections, two interceptions and pick-six touchdown defensively plus a blocked PAT kick on special teams to lead Horn to a 24-16 win over Raiders in district action

Riley Van Poppel, Argyle DT/OL

Van Poppel — a four-star offensive line prospect and Nebraska Cornhuskers commit — led a menacing defensive attack for the Eagles that collectively racked up seven total sacks and another half dozen tackles for loss. Van Poppel finished with three sacks, four TFLs and a PBU, as Argyle held Frisco Emerson to 11 first downs on the night and only 159 total yards, including just 25 rushing yards, in a 24-10 district win Thursday night.

Taurean York, Temple LB

York, a Baylor commit, was busy making plays all over the field Friday night in the Wildcats’ 31-27 win over Hutto in district play. He racked up 17 tackles and two TFLs on the defensive side of the ball and also accounted for three TDs on a pair of touchdown runs and a touchdown catch offensively.

Julian Dews, Tyler LB

Dews tallied 14 tackles, three tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries in Tyler’s 21-0 district win against West Mesquite.

Demontrell Candie, Kilgore DE

In the Bulldogs' win over Henderson, Candie finished with five tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and two QB pressures.

Carson Gonzalez, Tatum ATH

Gonzales ran for 124 yards and two rushing TDs on just three carries, threw a 40-yard TD pass and caught two passes for 16 receiving yards offensively in the Eagles’ 46-14 victory over White Oak. He also intercepted a pair of passes defensively and returned one of his two INTs 33 yards for a defensive touchdown.

Kenneth Ross, Jefferson LB

In the Bulldogs' 16-8 win over Atlanta, Ross recorded 15 tackles, four tackles for loss, a sack and two interceptions.
