Congratulations to Dripping Springs football senior quarterback Austin Novosad for being voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 24-30!

Novosad, a Baylor Bears commit, shined in the Tigers’ rout of Del Valle in District 26-6A action during Week 10.

He threw for 207 yards and five TDs on 16-of-23 passing to lead Dripping Springs to a 66-7 victory against the Cardinals, locking up a second-place finish for the Tigers in the 26-6A district standings.

Novosad ran away with our latest Texas Athlete of the Week vote to capture this week's honor, receiving 92.0% of the vote.

The Tigers kept rolling during Week 11 with Novosad at the helm of their explosive offense, blanking Austin Anderson in a 49-0 win in their regular-season finale.

Dripping Springs (9-1) returns to action to kick off the 2022 Texas high school football playoffs, as the Tigers square off against the Manor Mustangs (7-3) in the bi-district round of the UIL’s 6A DII playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Tiger Stadium in Dripping Springs.

Tre Guerra, Keller QB

Guerra completed 13 of 21 passes for 287 yards and four touchdowns through the air in Keller’s 39-17 win against crosstown rival Keller Timber Creek.

Jackson Arnold, Denton Guyer QB

Arnold, an Oklahoma Sooners commit, had one of his best performances of the year Thursday night in the Wildcats’ 42-21 road win over McKinney. He was 18-of-26 passing for 324 yards and four TDs and also ran seven times for 18 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Evan Bullock, Anna QB

Bullock, a Louisiana Tech commit, threw for six touchdown passes and 415 yards on 34-of-43 passing to lead the Coyotes to a 49-21 victory against Paris in district play.

Adairian Alexander, Dallas Madison QB

Alexander completed 9 of 18 pass attempts for 243 yards and five touchdowns to lead Madison to a 59-47 shootout win against Maypearl on Friday. He also picked up 156 rushing yards and three touchdown runs on 22 carries.

Kaden Brown, Midlothian Heritage QB

Brown went off during Heritage’s 52-20 win against Arlington Seguin in district play Friday, when he accounted for six of the Jags’ seven total TDs. He ended the game after throwing for 205 yards and five touchdowns on 9-of-14 passing.

Trevor Ham, Melissa QB

Ham completed 22 of 29 passes for 298 yards and seven touchdowns through the air and ran six times for 29 rushing yards to power Melissa to a lopsided 57-14 district win over Princeton on Saturday.

Sawyer Anderson, Dallas Parish Episcopal QB

Anderson was excellent through the air Saturday, completing 23 of 28 passes for 280 yards and four passing TDs in the Panthers’ dominant 42-6 win over Addison Trinity Christian.

Jack Fishpaw, Coppell QB

Fishpaw accounted for all of the Cowboys’ five TDs during their 39-21 district win over Flower Mound on Friday night. He threw for 148 yards and three touchdowns through the air on 15-of-21 passing and ran 10 times for 102 yards and a pair of rushing scores.

Nathan Greek, Ferris QB

Greek shined in the Yellowjackets’ 76-0 rout of Venus in district action, throwing for 318 yards and seven touchdowns on 19-of-22 passing.

Austin Novosad, Dripping Springs QB

Novosad, a Baylor Bears commit, powered the Tigers’ explosive offense Friday night and led Dripping Springs to a 66-7 win against Del Valle in district play. He completed 16 of 23 pass attempts for 207 yards and five touchdowns through the air.

J.T. Fayard, Richmond Foster QB

Fayard threw for 300 yards and three TDs on 16-of-21 passing and ran twice for five yards and a rushing touchdown to lead the Falcons to a pivotal 56-20 district win at Magnolia.

Deuce Adams, New Braunfels Canyon QB

Adams was outstanding through the air in the Cougars’ 43-13 victory over San Antonio MacArthur, throwing for 292 yards and five TDs on 18-of-22 passing to help Canyon improve to 8-1 overall.

Evan Erwin, New Waverly QB

Erwin had a tremendous performance against Kountze on Thursday, when he finished with six total touchdowns. He completed 11 of 15 passes for 231 yards and five TDs through the air and ran five times for 39 rushing yards and a touchdown run to lead the Bulldogs to a 61-6 victory.

Cyrin Myles, Crosby QB

Myles completed 14 of 23 pass attempts for 325 yards and five TDs through the air to propel Crosby to a 49-42 shootout win against La Porte on Friday night. He also picked up 8 rushing yards and a pair of touchdown runs on 12 carries.

Mason Shorb, Leander Rouse QB

Shorb, a UTSA Roadrunners commit, threw for 256 yards and five touchdowns on 19-of-23 passing to lead the Raiders to a dominant 45-7 victory over Pflugerville in district play.

Cutter Stewart, Alice QB

Stewart was superb Friday night against Zapata, when he completed 24 of 31 passes for 284 yards and six touchdowns through the air for the Coyotes in a 53-13 road win in district play.

Jaxson Baize, Boerne QB

Baize accounted for 331 yards and four touchdowns through the air on 22-of-36 passing in Boerne’s 35-14 road victory over Somerset, which helped the Greyhounds improve to 9-0 overall this season.

Hudson White, Glen Rose QB

White tallied 169 yards and two TDs through the air on 9-of-16 passing in the Tigers’ blowout 58-0 victory over Benbrook on Friday. He also added 123 rushing yards and four touchdown runs on 11 carries.

Ashton Robinson, Brookshire Royal QB

Robinson completed 10 of 17 passes for 301 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Falcons to a huge 47-7 victory over La Marque on Friday night.

Blake Flowers, Seminole QB

Flowers completed 24 of 34 passes, throwing for 324 yards and five touchdowns to lead Seminole past Levelland in a 41-7 blowout win. He also ran eight times for 77 rushing yards.

Trey Owens, Cy-Fair QB

Owens threw for 353 yards and six TDs on 20-of-27 passing, as Cy-Fair clobbered Cypress Ridge in a 51-0 district victory.

Antonio Meza, San Antonio Warren QB

Meza threw for 343 yards and six touchdowns on 21-of-30 passing in Warren’s 49-35 shootout win against San Antonio Stevens on Saturday.

Aiden McCown, Rusk QB

McCown was the spark plug for Rusk’s offense through the air and on the ground in a 48-23 victory over Brownsboro. He tallied 183 yards and five touchdowns on 12-of-15 passing and scrambled 14 times for 150 rushing yards.

Terry Bussey, Timpson QB

Bussey ran nine times for 230 yards and three rushing TDs, passed for 74 yards and a touchdown and returned a punt 54 yards for a special teams score in the Bears’ 67-14 win over Shelbyville.

Ahkari Johnson, Texarkana Pleasant Grove QB

Johnson completed 11 of 20 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns in the Hawks’ 55-0 win over North Lamar.

Braxton Baker, Carrollton Hebron QB

Baker threw for 339 yards and four TDs on 11-of-19 passing to lead the Hawks to a pivotal 35-32 win over Plano West that helped Hebron keep its playoff hopes alive.

Cameron Bates, Mansfield Timberview QB

Bates rushed 10 times for 123 yards and three touchdown runs and also threw for 18 yards on 3-of-5 passing in Timberview’s 59-24 win against Richland that helped the Wolves improve to 9-0 overall.

Cardea Collier, Alvarado QB

Collier gave his team a big boost on the ground and through the air to lead Alvarado to a 50-49 shootout win at Stephenville. He threw for 295 yards and three TDs on 19-of-32 passing and also ran for 127 yards and three rushing TDs.

Mike Jones, Malakoff QB

Jones was 19-of-24 passing for 275 yards and four touchdowns in a 55-13 win over Mexia.

Connor Cuff, Carthage QB

Cuff completed 13 of 17 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns in three quarters of action in Carthage’s 41-15 win over Van, completing a perfect 10-0 regular season for the Bulldogs and giving head coach Scott Surratt his 200th career coaching win.

Noah Lugo, Northwest Eaton QB

Lugo threw for 105 yards and three touchdowns on 7-of-12 passing and scrambled seven times for 96 yards and two rushing touchdowns in Eaton’s 42-7 district win over Haltom.

Brody Darland, Blue Ridge QB

Darland scrambled 18 times for 146 rushing yards and four touchdown runs for Blue Ridge, which beat Howe 42-21 on Friday.


RUSHING STARS

Darrion Bowers, Arlington Bowie RB

Bowers put the Volunteers on his back offensively when he rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries to lead them past Arlington Lamar 37-21 on Friday.

Kaeden Landry, Dallas Carter RB

Landry ran for 348 yards and five rushing TDs on just 12 carries Friday night, powering the Cowboys to a 54-6 district win against North Dallas.

Isaiah Cunning, Garland Naaman Forest RB

Cunning helped the Rangers roll to a 50-27 win over North Garland in District 9-6A action by running for 138 yards and three rushing touchdowns on 17 carries.

Caden Durham, Duncanville RB

Durham starred in the Panthers’ 41-17 district victory against rival DeSoto with all four of Duncanville’s first-half TDs. He finished with 309 rushing yards and five touchdown runs — both season highs — on 19 carries Friday night.

Amare Burgess, Mansfield Summit RB

Burgess put on a show Friday night when he finished with 136 rushing yards and four touchdown runs on just seven carries in the Jaguars’ 49-10 runaway win against Joshua in district action.

Gabe Gayton, Celina RB

Gayton powered the Bobcats’ rushing attack in a 38-7 road win against Dallas Pinkston, running 22 times for 173 yards and three rushing TDs Friday night.

Cornelius Warren, North Crowley RB

Warren was a major factor in the Panthers’ monster rushing performance in a 50-27 victory over Fort Worth Chisholm Trail, leading the charge for an offense that finished with 506 yards on the ground collectively. He finished with 163 yards and three rushing TDs on 12 carries, as North Crowley improved to 9-0 for the first time in school history.

Owen Allen, Southlake Carroll RB

Allen put the Dragons’ offense on his back by racking up 216 rushing yards and five touchdown runs on 34 carries, as Southlake Carroll topped Trophy Club Byron Nelson in a 38-23 district win in a matchup between two undefeated 6A teams.

Cameron Lyles, Kennedale RB

Lyles stole the spotlight Friday during the Wildcats’ 38-0 shutout win on the road against Fort Worth Western Hills, logging 21 carries for 120 rushing yards and three touchdown runs.

Zach Hernandez, Dallas Christian RB

Hernandez was an instrumental part of Dallas Christian’s huge night offensively Friday in a 60-0 victory over McKinney Christian in TAPPS district action. He ended the game with 220 yards and three rushing TDs for the Chargers on 16 carries.

Brett Tutter, Brock RB

In the Eagles’ 74-27 road win against district rival Ponder, Tutter tallied 16 carries for 318 rushing yards and five touchdown runs on Friday night.

Sedrick Alexander, Austin LBJ RB

Alexander, a Vanderbilt commit, rushed for 200 yards and four touchdowns on just eight carries in a lopsided 96-0 district win for Austin LBJ against Austin Eastside on Thursday.

Kaden Dixon, Center RB

Dixon ran for 294 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries for Center, as the Roughriders blew out Bullard in a 62-29 district win Thursday night.

Re’Shaun Sanford II, Harker Heights RB

Sanford ran for 263 yards and six rushing touchdowns on 14 carries to power Harker Heights to a dominant 55-0 road win over Copperas Cove.

Ezell Jolly, Fort Bend Ridge Point RB

Jolly rushed for 140 yards and a trio of touchdown runs in the Panthers’ 43-15 win against Fort Bend Travis in their regular-season finale.

Caleb Blocker, Katy Tompkins RB

Blocker ran for 244 yards and four TDs on only 10 carries to lead Katy Tompkins to a runaway 65-14 victory against Katy Jordan on Friday night.

Quinten Joyner, Manor RB

Joyner, a USC Trojans commit, tallied 174 rushing yards and four touchdown runs on just eight carries in the Mustangs’ 44-9 comeback win over Round Rock Westwood.

Jaydon Bailey, Cibolo Steele RB

Bailey ended a monster performance Friday night with 212 rushing yards and five touchdown runs on 42 carries to lead Cibolo Steele to a 38-36 overtime victory at Converse Judson, as the Knights improved to 9-0 overall.

Juzstyce Lara, Odessa Permian RB

Lara powered the Panthers’ relentless rushing attack that totaled 596 yards on the ground collectively in a 43-31 road win against San Angelo Central on Friday. He finished with 160 rushing yards and five touchdown runs for Permian on 30 carries.

Noah Long, Liberty Hill RB

In a 61-7 win over Bastrop on Friday, Long rushed for 219 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 10 carries to lead a Panthers’ rushing attack that tallied 424 yards on the ground collectively..

Juan’yae Taylor, San Antonio Wagner RB

Taylor carried the ball eight times for 230 rushing yards and four touchdown runs in a 69-42 Thunderbirds’ win over Seguin on the road.

Sean McKinney, Lockhart RB

In the Lions’ 61-35 road win against San Antonio Pieper, McKinney caught a 15-yard pass and ran 22 times for 174 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

Aden Rascoe, Lampasas RB

Rascoe tallied eight carries for 121 yards and four touchdowns as well as seven receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown catch in the Badgers’ 42-20 road win over Marble Falls.

Tycen Williams, Cuero RB

Williams carried the ball 20 times for 234 yards and three touchdowns in the Gobblers' 61-16 win over Smithville, as Cuero improved to 8-1 overall.

Jaden Mahan, Van Alstyne RB

Mahan headlined a huge night for the Panthers’ on the ground, carrying the ball 15 times for 226 yards and three rushing TDs in Van Alstyne’s 65-18 win at Gainesville in its regular-season finale.

Kiefer Sibley, Waco Connally RB

Sibley toted the ball 20 times for 191 rushing yards and three touchdown runs and caught two passes for 33 yards in the Cadets' 61-14 win at Madisonville.

Taylor Tatum, Longview RB

Tatum ran 18 times for 193 yards and three touchdowns in the Lobos' 42-3 road victory against Tyler on Thursday.

Rene Martinez, Falfurrias RB

In a 43-21 win over Santa Gertrudis Academy on Friday night, Martinez rushed for 314 yards and five touchdowns on 33 carries for the Jerseys.

Sawyer Wilkerson, Comanche RB

Wilkerson carried the ball 30 times Friday night for 283 yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns in the Indians' 49-14 road win against Merkel.

Paxton Hancock, Centerville RB

Hancock toted the ball nine times for 157 rushing yards and five touchdown runs in Centerville's 56-0 shutout win over Normangee.

Kamden Wesley, The Colony RB

Wesley finished a big night on the ground with 180 rushing yards and five touchdown runs on 12 carries for The Colony in a 59-3 win at Saginaw in its regular-season finale.

Dawson Pendergrass, Mineola RB

Pendergrass stole the spotlight in the Yellowjackets’ 51-36 victory against Emory Rains with 481 rushing yards and five touchdown runs on 30 carries. He also added a tackle and pass deflection defensively, as well as 46 yards on 3-of-5 passing.

Jayden Jackson, Franklin RB

In Franklin’s 63-7 win over Cameron Yoe, Jackson ran for 325 yards and five touchdowns on 17 carries to highlight an impressive night on the ground for the Lions offensively.

Brandon Benavides, Laredo United South RB

Benavides tallied 282 rushing yards and four touchdown runs on 36 carries to lead the Panthers in a 34-28 road win over previously undefeated Eagle Pass.

Joseph Sanders, Aldine Nimitz RB

Sanders racked up 259 rushing yards and a trio of touchdown runs on 44 carries to lead the Cougars to a 42-35 district win at Spring on Friday night.

Anthony Guerrero, Medina Valley RB

Guerrero toted the ball 25 times for 155 yards and five touchdowns in Medina Valley’s 45-28 win over South San Antonio.

Tramayne Black, Houston Waltrip RB

Black racked up five total TDs in Waltrip’s 61-0 rout of Houston Sharpstown on Friday night. He finished with eight carries for 137 yards and four rushing TDs and also caught a 21-yard touchdown pass in the Rams' blowout win.

Parker Polk, Grapevine RB

Polk ran for 258 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries, as Grapevine beat Fort Worth Arlington Heights 28-7 to clinch the District 4-5A DII title.

Landen Chambers, Keller Fossil Ridge RB

Chambers, a BYU commit, rushed for 231 yards and four touchdowns on 33 carries in the Panthers’ 35-7 win over district rival Keller Central.

Landon Thigpen, Godley RB

Thigpen rushed 42 times for 294 yards and four touchdowns in the Wildcats 32-16 win over Hillsboro.

Greyson Ledbetter, Whitesboro RB

Ledbetter spearheaded a relentless Bearcats’ rushing attack by picking up 206 rushing yards and two touchdown runs on 32 carries, as Whitesboro held off the Paradise Panthers for an 18-7 victory in a pivotal District 4-3A DI clash.

Elijah Walker, Palestine RB

Walker carried the ball 25 times for 202 yards and two touchdowns in Palestine’s narrow 37-35 win over Henderson.

J.Q. Davis, Marshall RB

Davis rushed for 317 yards and three touchdowns on 35 carries in the Mavericks’ 49-15 win over Nacogdoches.

D’Co Wright, Daingerfield RB

Wright ran 24 times for 253 yards and three touchdowns and caught two passes for 18 receiving yards in the Tigers’ 32-14 win over Waskom.

Bo Hammons, Beckville RB/LB

Hammons carried the ball 13 times for 85 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 42-yard TD pass in the Bearcats’ 76-21 win over Harleton. On defense, Hammons had six tackles, two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble that was returned by a teammate for a defensive TD.

Brody Eaves, Carlisle RB/DB

Eaves scored on offense, defense and special teams, finishing with six total touchdowns, in the Indians’ 70-10 win against Overton. He ran for 110 yards and three rushing touchdowns on six carries, caught a 21-yard pass, returned a kick 68 yards for a special teams TD and returned both of his interceptions for defensive scores (38 and 88 yards).

Hayden Green, Omaha Pewitt RB

Green rumbled for 242 rushing yards and four touchdown runs on 16 carries and completed his only throw of the night on a 44-yard touchdown pass in the Brahmas’ 68-42 win over Prairiland.


RECEIVING STARS

Samuel Omosigho, Crandall WR

Omosigho hauled in five catches for 92 yards and a trio of receiving TDs as part of a monster offensive performance in the Pirates’ 54-30 victory over Denison in district action.

Keaton Kubecka, Austin Westlake WR

Kubecka, a Kansas Jayhawks commit, pulled down nine receptions for 151 yards and two touchdown catches to help the Chaparrals stay unbeaten and win their 49th straight game with a 45-0 road victory against Austin Bowie on Thursday night.

Brady Fuselier, Lumberton WR

Fuselier starred in Lumberton’s 41-7 rout of Little Cypress-Mauriceville in district play Thursday, catching five passes for 119 receiving yards and two touchdown grabs.

Aidan Sterling, Round Rock WR

Sterling finished Friday night with seven catches for 142 receiving yards and four touchdowns, as the Dragons rolled to a 48-21 win over Round Rock Cedar Ridge to keep pace in the District 25-6A title race.

Justin Navarro, Edinburg Vela WR

Navarro led the way for the SaberCats’ receiving corps in a 55-14 blowout win against La Joya Palmview, tallying 137 yards and a pair of receiving TDs on six catches.

Deuce McGregor, Tyler Chapel Hill WR

McGregort caught six passes for 128 receiving yards and two TDs in the Bulldogs’ 48-28 win over Athens on Friday night.

Jaydon Smith, Ingleside WR

Smith secured eight catches for 152 yards and four receiving TDs receiving in the Mustangs’ 45-21 win against Orange Grove in district action.

Lamont Nickleberry, Childress WR

In a 63-0 win over Dimmitt, Nickleberry had four receptions for 134 yards and three TDs, scoring on 53, 46 and 4-yard touchdown grabs.

Derek Lancaster, Three Rivers WR/DB

In the Bulldogs' 56-6 road win over Bloomington, Lancaster caught eight passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns.

Cory O’Bryant, Tomball Memorial WR

In the Wildcats' 41-35 shootout win over Klein Oak, O’Bryant caught six passes for 148 yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns to help Tomball Memorial keep pace in a crowded District 15-6A playoff race.

Adrian Wilson, Pflugerville Weiss WR

Wilson racked up five catches for 111 yards and three receiving touchdowns in the Wolves’ 49-21 win against Waco Midway.

De’Anthony Johnson, San Antonio Highlands WR

Johnson tallied 199 receiving yards and a trio of touchdown grabs on three catches in the Owls’ pivotal 41-21 victory against San Antonio Sam Houston in district play Friday night.

Decarlton Wilson, Whitehouse WR/DB

In the Wildcats' 32-27 shootout win on the road against Texarkana Texas High on Friday, Wilson caught seven passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns. He also tallied a tackle, a pass break-up and an interception defensively.

Kelby Valsin, Arlington Bowie WR

Valsin, a Texas Tech commit, caught five passes for 98 yards and three touchdowns in the Volunteers 56-13 win over Arlington Lamar.


DEFENSIVE/SPECIAL TEAMS STARS

Aaden Benjamin, Alvin Shadow Creek CB

Benjamin finished Friday’s 45-0 district win against Alief Taylor with a pair of interceptions, including a 30-yard INT return touchdown defensively.

JoeNathan Guzman, Poteet DL

Guzman recorded 14 tackles, 7.5 sacks, four TFLs and a forced fumble in the Aggies’ 23-9 victory over Crystal City.

Lonnie Adkism, Corpus Christi Miller CB/WR

Adkism, a Sam Houston State commit, tallied six tackles, two PBUs and an interception that he returned 40 yards for a defensive touchdown in a 41-18 win over Victoria West. He also caught five passes for 75 receiving yards offensively.

Josef Fuksa, Frisco Reedy SS

Fuksa played the role of hero Thursday night for Frisco Reedy when he blocked a punt with 23 seconds left and fell on the loose ball in the end zone for a game-winning special teams touchdown in the Lions’ 32-31 win against Frisco Heritage to complete a 10-0 run through the regular season.

Brandon Jones, South Oak Cliff OLB

In the Bears' 55-0 win over Seagoville, Jones had 20 tackles (15 solo), two tackles for loss, and two QB hurries.

Adam Due, Prosper OLB

Due recorded eight tackles (four solo), three tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, a blocked punt and four QB pressures in the Eagles’ 29-24 road win against Allen.

Kade Tompkins, Midlothian DT

Tompkins was a wrecking ball in the middle of the Panthers’ defense with six tackles, three TFLs, three sacks and two blocked punts in a 27-13 win over Killeen Ellison that helped Midlothian improve to 9-0.

Ryan Stanton, Lindale LB

In Lindale’s 43-28 win over Jacksonville, Stanton racked up nine tackles, two sacks, one tackle for loss and an interception.

Dylan Taylor, Tyler Grace Community DL

Taylor tallied 10 tackles and six tackles for loss in a 21-14 overtime win over Bishop Dunne.

Seth Jordan, Gilmer LB

In the Buckeyes’ 54-0 win over Spring Hill, Jordan recorded 10 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.

MarMar Evans, Center DB

Evans shined defensively with nine tackles and three interceptions In the Roughriders’ 62-29 win over Bullard.
