Lytle’s Calyssa Sevier voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week (Jan. 16-22)
Congratulations to Lytle basketball junior point guard Calyssa Sevier for being voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 16-22!
Sevier shined for the Pirates during a pair of blowout wins in district play with victories over Hondo and Crystal City to extend Lytle’s then five-game winning streak.
She dropped a season-high 44 points on 16-of-27 shooting (59.3% FG) in a 92-63 win over Crystal City that included 11 steals, 10 rebounds and three assists to round out a high-scoring triple-double performance.
Sevier also tallied 26 points, a season-high 11 steals, five rebounds, two assists and one block in a 70-42 victory against Hondo.
The Pirates’ junior point guard averaged 35.0 points during her highest scoring back-to-back games of the year so far.
Sevier narrowly won our latest Texas Athlete of the Week vote to capture this week's honor, receiving 32.49% of the vote. Pierre Algood finished in second place with 28.47% of this week’s vote.
The Pirates have continued their winning ways, picking up three more victories in recent District 28-3A action.
Lytle (22-10, 8-0) will return to action looking to extend its eight-game winning streak against the Hondo Owls (24-8, 5-3) in another district matchup at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3rd, in Hondo.
