Meet the top shooting guards in North Texas

Jadyn Atchison, 6-1, Sr., Cedar Hill

Atchison is averaging 13.5 points per game this year for the Longhorns.

The guard was a McDonald’s All-American nominee that earned all-district and all-region selection last year. She has committed to Colorado.

Salese ‘BoBo’ Blow, 5-11, Sr., Plano

Through the end of January, she is the DFW area's top scorer at 31.7 points per game.

The combo guard was the 6-6A player of the year last season and scored 52 points in a win against Flower Mound Marcus on Jan. 26 and that was only her second-best game of the year. She dropped 57 against Plano West on Dec. 10.

She is headed to play Division I basketball like her mother - who played at Arizona - by pledging to Wichita State.

Vote Now: Who is the top small-school girls basketball star in the nation in 2022-23?

Savannah Catalon, 5-8, Sr., Mansfield Legacy

The McDonald’s All-American nominee eclipsed the 2,000-point mark in her career in December and has kept on adding to that tally. The Seton Hall commit is the third Division I athlete in her family.

Older brother Kendall declared for the upcoming NFL Draft after playing for Abilene Christian, while another brother, Jalen, is transferring to Texas after playing for Arkansas.

Kennedy Evans, 5-10, Jr., Denton Braswell

Picked up nine Division I offers before picking Oklahoma State. The junior helped the Bengals win 35 games last year and 24 games in the first 30 contests this season.

Kelis Grant, 5-8, Sr., Cedar Hill

Another McDonald’s All-American nominee, Grant was one of two from her school to be one of 24 from the DFW area selected for a chance to play in the all-star game.

She is a three-year starter for the Longhorns and has been a two-time all-district pick. She has signed with Sam Houston State.

Madison ‘Maddie’ Heiss, 5-10, Sr., Fort Worth Bishop Lynch

The senior is headed to Buffalo next year. Scored a career-best 30 points earlier this season against her former team, Highland Park, in November. She was an all-district and defensive MVP for the Scots before heading to Bishop Lynch for her last year of high school.

Heiss was a 40-percent shooter from the 3-point line last season.

Vote Now: Which high school girls basketball player has been national player of the year

Reagan Jackson, 5-9, Sr., Kennedale

The guard had more than 10 scholarship offers the past two years before picking future Big 12 school Cincinnati - one of her final five that also included Coastal Carolina, Georgetown, Houston and Louisiana Tech.

Jackson is averaging 25.1 points per game - as of Jan. 26 - and is among the top scorers in the DFW metroplex.

Katelyn ‘KK’ Jones, 5-8, Sr., Argyle

She’s one of the top passers in the area with nearly five assists per game.

The Sienna pledge was the area Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and has earned all-district honors twice. She was also honored for her play on the all-defensive team.

Julianna ‘Jules’ LaMendola, 6-1, Sr., Coppell

The 6-foot-1 guard is averaging 17.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game - following a 16.8 point, 9.1 rebound average last season. The Cowgirls won 37 games last year and made the regional quarterfinals.

A McDonald’s All-American nominee, LaMendola is an Indiana commit who dropped a double-double to lead Coppell to an overtime bi-district playoff win Tuesday.

Madi Lumsden, 5-8, Sr., Argyle

The senior hit the 1,000-point plateau earlier this season and helped the Lady Eagles get off to an undefeated start in district play.

The Angelo State pledge was a McDonald’s All-American nominee. Lumsden was a Class 5A all-state pick last year.

Kylie Marshall, 5-11, Sr., Mansfield Lake Ridge

One of the top recruits in the state, the guard is a four-star recruit. She dwindled her list of college choices down to Arizona, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M before deciding on the Aggies and staying in-state.

Marshall is averaging 21 points per game.

Sibelle Zambie, 5-9, Jr., Addison Greenhill School

She’s one of the best pure scorers and shooters in the metroplex. She is averaging 26.1 points per game and eclipsed 40 points in a game earlier this year.

The prowess in her game comes from the 3-point line with an average of almost five per game. The Plano West transfer is also grabbing nearly nine rebounds per game.

She has committed to Lehigh - the same conference her older brother, Ryan, plays in for Lafayette.

Honorable Mention

Kennedi Johnson, 5-4, Sr., Dallas Skyline

Had a big December, scoring her 1,000th career point and then earning MVP honors while leading her squad to the Dallas ISD Holiday Invitational. She was a McDonald’s All-American nominee.

Ahrianna Morgan, 5-8, Sr., South Grand Prairie

One of two from South Grand Prairie who are McDonald’s All-American nominees. Morgan can play shooting guard or point guard and will play at Texas Woman’s next year.

She was honored on the all-defense team last year and helped her team reach the state title game last year.

Mackenzie Nolan, 5-8, Sr., Plano Prestonwood Christian Academy

Broke her school record of 39 points in a game by tallying 50 in a game earlier this season. She was a first-team all-district pick and was one of 24 players in the DFW area to be a McDonald’s All-American nominee.

Her future won’t be on the hardwood, but rather the diamond, as she is a Grand Canyon softball signee.
