Vote now: Who should be SBLive’s 2022-23 Texas Boys Basketball Class 3A Player of the Year?
After four months of regular season play and seven rounds of postseason, it's time to recognize the top stars in the 2022-23 Texas high school basketball season.
SBLive has selected finalists for our Class 1A-6A and Private School Player of the Year awards to be chosen by the fans.
First we took a look at the private school (TAPPS) boys and girls finalists, then Class 6A boys, Class 5A boys, Class 4A boys and, most recently, Class 3A boys.
We narrowed the list down to five finalists. Now we want to hear from you: Who was the most valuable player in 3A during the 2022-23 Texas high school boys basketball season?

Texas 3A State Player of the Year Finalists
Jordan Balderaz, Lytle Sr. G/SF
Balderaz had a spectacular senior season for Lytle that came to an end in the state semifinal to Childress. He averaged a double-double per game with 25.6 points per game and 12 rebounds per game. He was voted unanimously as the district 28-3A player of the year.
Keitenn Bristow, Holliday Jr. SG
Bristow made waves across the state in 2022/23 before Holliday fell in the first round to Brock. He was named the district 7-3A offensive player of the year with 21.3 points per game in 26 appearances. The 6-foot-8 junior is the younger brother of Jalynn Bristow who is up for 3A Girls player of the year.
Braden Buchanan, Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill Jr. SG/SF
Buchanan played a major role in Chapel Hill’s season. In 35 games, the 6-foot-1 junior averaged 27.9 minutes on the floor and 23.5 points per game. The season could have gone on longer if it were not for an overtime loss to Jefferson. He was voted as the 13-3A district player of the year.
Kenneth Ross, Jefferson Sr. G
Ross led Jefferson to the third round of the playoffs before falling to Hooks. The 6-foot-1 guard appeared in 30 games for the Bulldogs and averaged 18.1 points per game. He completed his season of success after a successful season on the gridiron as well.
Jesus Delgado, Tornillo Sr. G/SF
Delgado was the biggest bright spot for a Tornillo team that saw its season end in the first round to Brownfield. Still, he was able to average 23.8 points per game and 7.3 rebounds. He was voted unanimously as the district 4-3A player of the year.
