Rodriguez hit two grand slams in the same series in the 6A Region IV semifinals

Amira Rodriguez, San Benito (Texas) standout, was voted SBLive's National Girls Athlete of the Week for the top high school athlete between May 15-21.

The sophomore utility infielder smacked a pair of grand slams as San Benito won a three-game series against New Braunfels in the Region IV-6A semifinals. 

She is also a star pitcher for San Benito, which is in the throes of a state tournament run. 

Rodriguez received 68.78 percent of the more than 15,000 votes cast.
