Harleton rides hot start to its first Texas (UIL) 2A state baseball championship
ROUND ROCK, Texas — Harleton is the Texas state high school baseball champion for the first time in school history.
The Wildcats scored six runs in the second inning and didn't look back in a 10-5 win over Shiner on Thursday at Dell Diamond in the UIL Class 2A championship.
Sophomore outfielder Carson Wallace went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. His single to right field drove in the fifth and sixth runs in the second inning at Harleton built its lead, and he added an RBI double to right-center in the top of the sixth. Wallace was named the game's MVP.
Senior Dylan Armstrong picked up the win on the bump, throwing two strikeouts with five hits, two walks and two earned runs allowed in five innings for Harleton (37-1).
Shiner reached the state title in 2022 and lost to Valley Milles, 4-2.
