Casey Poe commits to Alabama: Crimson Tide land nation's top interior offensive lineman
One of the top uncommitted prospects in Texas is off the board.
Lindale High School (Texas) offensive lineman Casey Poe committed to Alabama on Wednesday.
The 6-5, 290-pound Poe is a consensus four-star interior offensive and the top-rated interior O-lineman in the country according to On3.
Poe narrowed his choice to seven: Texas Tech, LSU, Clemson, Auburn, Oklahoma, Alabama and Georgia.
He was a first team All-District 9-4A Division I selection as a junior in Texas and excels at both guard and tackle, won a UIL Class 4A state shot put title as a sophomore and finished third at the Class 4A Region II meet as a junior.
He made his commitment on a Rivals live stream surrounded by family after taking official visits to Georgia in May and Clemson, Texas Tech, Auburn, Alabama and Oklahoma in June.
He said Alabama's pedigree and excellence under coach Nick Saban was a big reason behind his choice. The Crimson Tide have won an NCAA-best 18 national championships.
"I know whenever I go here, it's going to take my best," Poe said on the Rivals live stream. "I'm going to have to do whatever I possibly can every single day, I'm going to have to fight tooth and nail no matter if I'm a fifth string or a first string. It's going to take my all."
Poe is the second interior offensive lineman and 13th overall verbal commit in Alabama's 2024 class, which 247 Sports has ranked 14th in the country.
Calvary Christian (Florida) three-star interior o-lineman Justin Ionata committed to Alabama in June.
