North Shore beats Atascocita: Texas high school football playoff live updates recap
North Shore (13-0) is the Texas high school 6A-Region III champ.
The Mustangs roared back with a big second half and survived a furious Atascocita (11-2) comeback to win 34-28 regional final playoff matchup between two perennial Houston powerhouses on Saturday.
It's North Shore's seventh consecutive regional crown in its ninth straight appearance.
The game kicked off at 2 p.m. (central time) at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Pasadena, Texas, and the winner faces an Westlake, which beat Lake Travis simultaneously, in the UIL 6A Division I state semifinals next week.
The Houston area rivals squared off once before on Oct. 27. Atascocita stuck around early, but North Shore ran away with a 61-35 win late.
To reach Saturday's quarterfinal round, North Shore blasted Cy-Fair 45-9 and Atascocita outlasted Lamar 34-14 in the regional semifinal round at NRG Stadium.
