Texas high school football power North Shore could face recruiting violations

UIL Executive Committee will weigh punishment Wednesday morning live on YouTube

Texas high school football powerhouse North Shore could be punished for recruiting violations when the University Scholastic League, the state's largest high school sports governing body, meets Wednesday morning. 

The UIL is considering penalties for potential recruiting violations for the school's nationally ranked football program and its offensive coordinator, Andrew Cameron. 

Details around the violations and from where they precipitated are not immediately clear.

The specific UIL Constitution and Contest rules in question are Section 51(a)(8) is a district personnel violation, and Section 52 (b), which relates to the school's rule compliance.

The meeting begins at 9 a.m. (central time) and will be streamed by the UIL live on YouTube (scroll down). North Shore's case will be heard at 10:25 a.m., according to the meeting agenda.

The Mustangs are a perennial Texas state football power with a roster chock-full of high-level college prospects.

They went 15-1 and finished the 2023 season ranked the No. 13 in the nation (SBLive/SI) after losing to fellow national power Duncanville in the 6A Division I state championship, 49-33.

North Shore is a member of Galena Park ISD in the greater Houston area.

The UIL executive committee is comprised of 12 administrators from around the Lone Star State who meet monthly throughout the calendar school year. Executive committee decisions can be appealed.
