Texas high school girls basketball: Live scores, updates of UIL state semifinals, Day 2 (3/1/2024)

Follow live: South Grand Prairie, Duncanville advance out of Class 6A semifinals

EDITOR'S NOTE: Follow all Texas (UIL) state girls basketball championship Saturday action live.


After an action-packed first day, three more Texas high school state girls basketball championship matchups will be set at the second day of the UIL semifinals at the Alamodome in San Antonio. 

Martin's Mill and Nocona won their respective class Class 2A semifinal games Friday morning and will play in the championship Saturday. 

Dallas Lincoln plays Waco La Vega at 1:30 p.m. and Boerne faces Canyon at 3 p.m in Class 4A. In Class 6A, Humble Summer Creek plays Duncanville at 7 p.m. and South Grand Prairie plays Brennan at 8:30 p.m.

Every game is being streamed live and is available for replay on the NFHS Network (subscription required).

FRIDAY SEMIFINALS (LIVE)

CLASS 6A SEMIFINALS

FINAL: SOUTH GRAND PRAIRIE 53 , NORTHSIDE BRENNAN 42

SECOND HALF

-- Taylor Barnes has 14 points in the second half and a game-high 24 on the night. She added 12 boards and four assists.

-- Brennan's second unit has been held scoreless.

FIRST HALF

-- South Grand Prairie mounted a 13-3 run to take a double-digit lead in the second quarter. SGP held Brennan to just 5 of 19 shooting from the field and dominated the rebound advantage (18-13).

-- Taylor Barnes led all first half scorers with 10 points. The four-star, 6-foot guard was pivotal with 28 points in a win over Southlake Carroll on Feb. 23.

FINAL (OT): DUNCANVILLE 39, HUMBLE SUMMER CREEK 31

Mariyah Brown scored a second-chance layup with eight seconds left to tie the game at 31 and force overtime. 

In overtime, Duncanville took over. Mariah Clayton scored back-to-back layups to open the period and the Panthers hit free throws and held the Bulldogs scoreless.

6A CHAMPIONSHIP: Duncanville vs. TBD, Saturday, 8:30 p.m.

CLASS 4A SEMIFINALS

FINAL: CANYON 53, BOERNE 37

Jaylee Moss hit all seven of her 3-point attempts to lead Canyon past Boerne 53-39 on Friday night. Moss tallied 26 points and six rebounds.

Boerne was paced by 13 points from Averi Aaron, who fouled out.

Canyon led by five heading into the final quarter, and outscored the Greyhounds 19-10 in the final frame to pull away.

FINAL: DALLAS LINCOLN 65, WACO LA VEGA 60 (2OT)

Mar'cya Willis netted 16 points, including 4 of 8 3-pointers, and pulled down five rebounds and Dallas Lincoln beat Waco La Vega in a double-overtime thriller on Friday.

Parr had 10 of her 15 points in the fourth quarter. 

Dallas Lincoln's T'anna Saddler drilled a 3 with 12 seconds left to tie the game in regulation at 54 with 12 seconds left. Jalynn Staten stole the ball back for the Tigers on the ensuing possession, but Grace Spencer's final attempt in regulation fell short, sending the game to OT.

La Vega pulled away by getting to the line and hitting free throws — all of its double-OT points came at the stripe.

4A CHAMPIONSHIP: Waco La Vega vs. Canyon, Saturday, 7 p.m.

CLASS 2A SEMIFINALS

FINAL: MARTIN'S MILL 54, GOLDTHWAITE 43

Kara Nixon netted 18 points, four assists and four steals to lead Martin's Mill to a double-digit semifinal win Friday morning. Ali Vaughn had 12 points and eight boards ande Kate Lindsey chipped in 13 as the starters accounted for all of Martin's Mill's scoring. Hope Hermesmeyer's 20 points — including four 3s — paced Goldwaithe.

FINAL: NOCONA 44, WELLINGTON 42

Megyn Meekins scored 19 points and led Nocona to a narrow win over Wellington on Friday morning. 

2A CHAMPIONSHIP: Martin's Mill vs. Nocona, Saturday, 1:30 p.m.
