SBLive 2021-22 preseason Class 2B Washington high school girls basketball rankings
Based on conversations with coaches and statewide media, SBLive ranked the top 10 teams across the state of Washington in Class 2B girls basketball heading into the 2021-22 season:
CLASS 2B GIRLS RANKINGS
1. WARDEN
The most complete team in the classification, the Cougars have star power (St. Martin's signee Kiana Rios) and a nice blend of senior experience and up-and-coming underclassmen talent, paced by sisters Jaryn and Lauryn Madsen.
2. LA CONNER
If Warden is 1A, the no-weakness Braves are a strong 1B. SF Sarah Cook, the team's top all-around player, can score from anywhere on the floor, and PG Junaper Swanson makes sure this deep lineup does not get too far out of kilter.
3. RAYMOND
Once again, the Southwest District will be deep - and it's Raymond's turn to lead the parade. All three standout guards - WSU signee Kyra Gardner, Kyndal Koski and Karsyn Freeman - can handle it and score. Gardner is all-state MVP favorite.
4. OKANOGAN
The Bulldogs have won state titles in both 1A and 2B, and have three seniors - SG Mylie Leitz-Rawson, SF Lexi Lafferty and PF Daniele Sparks - who have played in every game since their ninth-grade seasons. Expect lots of pressure.
5. LIBERTY OF SPANGLE
The reigning state champions have the same coach (Chris Colvin) and another NCAA Division I hopeful (top class-of-2024 PG Teagan Colvin) in tow. The younger Colvin is a nightly triple-double threat, and C Ellie Denny gives team interior presence.
6. LAKE ROOSEVELT
The Lady Raiders haven't won a state-playoff game since 2010, but they are an intriguing sleeper this winter. P Audrey Hansen is a versatile scorer, but bulk of talent is in a sophomore class folks have been talking about for years.
7. WAHKIAKUM
With five experienced regular returning this might be the Mules' last hurrah for a while. Three-year starting SG Reigha Niemeyer is one of the county's best shooters, and PG Megan Leitz makes it all go - and very smoothly.
8. COLFAX
Pay attention to the 2018 state champions, who have a blend of exciting talent - experienced and young - to lean on. SG Asher Cai (CWU signee) can fill it up from anywhere, and 6-2 ninth grade P Brynn McGaughy is already creating a buzz.
9. ADNA
Another balanced, well-coached group that keeps piling up wins - and increasing expectations. Two-time all-league PG Kaylin Todd is a dangerous playmaker, and C Karlee Vonmoos is legit back-to-the-basket scorer in the post.
10. ONALASKA
Athletically, the Loggers can run with anybody, and this top-10 newcomer has come a long ways in a short amount of time playing a new in-your-face style. SF Morgan Hamilton is a face-up slasher who breaks ankles - and hearts.
FIRST THREE OUT: Granger, Lind-Ritzville, Rainier.
