The Wildcats are in the state semifinals for the first time since 1992
YAKIMA - It has been an enjoyable year for the Toppenish Wildcats - at the expense of their top 1A SCAC rival.
The fifth-seeded Wildcats won for a third time in four meetings this season - a 58-54 victory in the state quarterfinals Thursday morning at the SunDome.
They will play No. 1 King's on Friday in the 1A semifinals.
It’s Toppenish first berth in the semis since 1992.
Those victories, in order, ended Zillah’s 122-game conference winning streak, gave the Wildcats a district championship and earned them a spot in the state’s final four.
