SPOKANE, Wash. — The chase for the gold ball continued Thursday at the Spokane Arena with eight WIAA state quarterfinal matches taking place for the 1B and 2B boys. classifications.

The 1B games are scheduled for the morning, 2B in the afternoon.

Here is a breakdown from each game in the 1B and 2B boys brackets. Stay with SBLive all week for updates.

1B boys

Final: No. 3 Northwest Yeshiva 50, No. 4 Willapa Valley 40

Up next: Northwest Yeshiva vs. No. 1 Almira/Coulee-Hartline on Friday at 2 p.m., Willapa Valley vs. No. 7 Lummi Nation at 9 a.m.

Another day, another 20-plus point performance from Yoel Kintzer, who dropped 24 in the quarterfinal matchup against the Vikings.

He was efficient from the floor and decisive in his attacks.

For Willapa Valley, in its first game of the tournament, were going blow for blow with the Lions, even leading them at half.

As the teams came out for the second half, Yeshiva took it to the Vikings without receiving a counter-punch.

Tyler Adkins led Willapa Valley with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Victor Maimon added seven points and 13 boards for the Lions.

Final: No. 1 Almira/Coulee-Hartline 52, No. 7 Lummi Nation 44

Up next: ACH vs. No. 3 Northwest Yeshiva on Friday at 2 p.m., Lummi Nation vs. No. 4 Willapa Valley at 9 a.m.

In the most physical battle of the tournament thus far, the Warriors slugged it out with the Blackhawks until the final buzzer sounded and ACH emerged victorious.

Reece Isaak was a force in the paint, forcing himself a touch every offensive possession. He finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

Isaak also made life difficult for Tyran Lane who shot 2-for-9 from the field for 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Neither team shot particularly well from deep, as the two combined to go 6-for-28.

Final: No. 5 Sunnyside Christian 39, No. 6 Moses Lake Christian/Covenant Christian 36

Up next: Sunnyside vs. No. 2 Cusick on Friday at 5:30 p.m., Moses Lake vs. No. 8 DeSales at 10:30 a.m.

A low scoring affair between the two teams as points came at a premium.

Cole Wagenaar led all scorers with 15 points on 5-of-16 shooting and 1-for-7 from 3.

A paltry 25 points total were scored in the first half before the floor heated up a bit more in the secondhalf.

Pierre Boorman led the Lions with 14 points, but he needed 21 shots to get there.

Final: No. 2 Cusick 74, No. 8 DeSales 65

Up next: Cusick vs. No. 5 Sunnyside Christian on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in semifinals, DeSales vs. Moses Lake at 10:30a.m. in conslation.

The Panthers didn’t look like a team making their first State 1B Tournament since 2015.

A 22-point first quarter and a 24-point third quarter showcased the offensive prowess of this team.

Bode Seymour led Cusick with 21 points and his brother Colton had 19 and added nine rebounds, 11 assists and five steals.

Two other Panthers had double figures.

Joe Baffney had 27 points for DeSales, but the Irish had only 38 points between eight other players.

2B boys

Final: No. 4 Brewster 67, No. 11 Toutle Lake 67

Up next: Brewster vs. No. 1 Kalama on Friday at 7:15 p.m., Toutle Lake vs. Columbia at 12:15 p.m.

Adaih Najera dribbled down the final few seconds and hit a jumper with five seconds left to give

Brewster the lead and the win.

A Duck halfcourt shot clunked off the backboard and sent the Bears into the semifinals.

Toutle Lake’s Zach Swanson scored a – Thursday high – 35 points, doing a lot of damage at the free. throw line.

AJ Woodward led Brewster with 22 points and Najera finished with 18 and six assists.

The game featured a lot of pace up and down the court.

 Final: No. 1 Kalama 61, No. 10 Columbia 57

Up next: Kalama vs. No. 4 Brewster on Friday at 3:45 p.m., Columbia vs. No. 11 Toutle Lake at 12:15 p.m.

The Chinooks showed why they were the No. 1 seed in 2B.

Going against a spirited and athletic Columbia, Kalama moved the ball well and found its playmakers.

Jackson Esary finished with 23 points and six rebounds and Nate Meyer had 14 points and nine rebounds.

They didn’t have much success from behind the 3-point line, going 2-for-12, but found their scoring by driving the lane.

Columbia’s leading scorer was Quincy Scott who had 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Final: No. 5 Morton-White Pass 64, No. 3 Colfax 60

Up next: Morton vs. No. 2 Liberty on Friday at 9 p.m., Colfax vs. No. 9 Lake Roosevelt at 3:45 p.m.

It seemed as if the Bulldogs would be able to answer every Timberwolf push.

John Lustig was well on his way to a 40-point game and always seemed in control.

That is until Lustig fouled out with two minutes left in the game and essentially sealed the fate of Colfax.

The Timberwolves were led by four double-digit scorers – Gary Dotson had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Lustig did finish with 40 points and 10 rebounds. The rest of Colfax scored 20 points and shot 7-for-24.

Final: No. 2 Liberty 69, No. 9 Lake Roosevelt 54

Up next: Liberty vs. No. 5 Morton-White Pass on Friday at 9 p.m., Lake Roosevelt vs. Colfax at 3:45 p.m.

A dominating effort from the Lancer big man, Colton Marsh, who had 19 points and 16 rebounds in 32 minutes of action.

Liberty was upset in the quarterfinals of the 2020 state tournament by the Raiders, but it was the

Lancers who are advancing to the semi-finals this time around.

Lake Roosevelt’s leading soccer was Alonzo Adams and his fleet feet downlow who forced the first

defender to bite on his shot fake every time. He finished with 17 points and four rebounds.

The Lancers went on a 12-2 to begin the third quarter that put them firmly in the drivers seat of the quarterfinal matchup.
