1B/2B girls Hardwood Classic 2022: Everything you missed from the WIAA state semifinals
SPOKANE, Wash. — The chase for the gold ball continued on Friday at the Spokane Arena with WIAA state semifinal matchups taking place for the 1B and 2B girls classifications.
Here is a breakdown from each game Friday in the 1B and 2B girls brackets. Stay with SBLive all week for updates.

1B STATE SEMIFINALS
Final: No. 1 Mount Vernon Christian 38, No. 5 Garfield-Palouse 32
Up next: Mount Vernon vs. No. 3 Neah Bay in 1B title game on Saturday at 9 p.m., Gar-Pal vs. No. 2 Colton in third/fifth place game at 1 p.m.
A defensive affair or struggling offense – probably some of both – caused the two sides to combine for 70 points. Mount Vernon had five people score, Gar-Pal only three.
The Hurricanes leading scorer was Hannah Van Hofwegen with 10 points. The Vikings had Kenzi Pedersen score 19 with nine rebounds, but the rest of the team combined for 13.
Mount Vernon secured 24 offensive rebounds, yet only found five second chance points from those opportunities.
Final: No. 3 Neah Bay, No. 2 Colton
Up next: Neah Bay vs. No. 1 Mount Vernon in 1B title game on Saturday at 9 p.m., Colton vs. Gar-Pal in third/fifth place game at 1 p.m.
The Wildcats had the early leady, jumping out to a 12-2 lead before the Red Devils came storming back, eventually taking the lead for good early in the third quarter.
Allie Green and Oceana Aguirre scored 13 points and 10 points respectively for Neah Bay. Aguirre added 10 boards as well.
For Colton, Maggie Meyer put on an offensive show, scoring 27 and singlehandedly keeping the Wildcats competitive.
Where Neah Bay thrived was off the turnover – 16 points – and second chance points – 14 of them.

1B CONSOLATION GAMES
Final: No. 6 Mossyrock 46, No. 10 Naselle
Up next: No. 8 Pomeroy on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in a fourth/sixth place game.
Defense was the name of this game, as the Vikings held the Comets to a paltry 12% from the field (3-for-25) and 8% from behind the arc.
The Vikings stole 15 balls, giving the Comets all sorts of trouble on the offensive end.
Naselle’s leading scorers was Morgan Reitz and Brynn Tarabochia with three points apiece.
For Mossyrock, Payton Torrey had 25 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks.
Final: No. 8 Pomeroy 63, No. 4 Wilbur-Creston-Keller 39
Up next: No. 6 Mossyrock on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in a fourth/sixth place game.
Keely Maves is a scoring machine, going for another 27 points in the win over the Wildcats.
It helps that Jillian Herres is there to dish out 11 assists and find the holes in the defense to exploit.
The Pirates also clamped down on the defensive end, making the Wildcats went 0-for-10 from 3-point range and only 10-for-56 from the field.
Callie Hadne led the Wildcats with 13 points, going 3-of-15 from the field.

2B STATE SEMIFINALS
Final: No. 2 Warden 68, No. 4 Okanogan 48
Up next: Warden vs. No. 3 Colfax in the 2B final on Saturday at 5 p.m., Okanogan vs. No. 7 Liberty in third/fifth place game at 11:15 a.m.
Even after losing in regionals, the Cougars have been on a tear during the state tournament.
Their most-recent victim was the Bulldogs who saw Lauryn Madsen drop 26 points with six assists. Kiana
Rios added 15 points and 11 rebounds and Rylee McKay had 11 points.
Warden also caused 19 turnovers, turning those into 22 points. Okanogan forced 11 turnovers, garnering four points.
For Okanogan, Danielle Sparks and Alex Goetz had 11 points apiece, the only two Bulldogs in double digits.
Final: No. 3 Colfax 74, No. 7 Liberty 49
Up next: Colfax vs. No. 2 Warden in the 2B final on Saturday at 5 p.m., Liberty vs. No. 4 Okanogan in the third/fifth place game at 11:15 a.m.
The Bulldogs spread the love around in their semifinal matchup, having four players finish in double figures, highlighted by Brynn McGaughy with 22 points and Asher Cai going for 17.
McGaughy added 13 board, four of them offensive, helping get 15 second chance points.
Liberty was led by Teagan Colvin who scored 24 points, grabbin 10 rebounds and stealing five. Colvin went 15-for-16 from the free throw line.
Colfax also got more from its bench, with its players scoring 15, compared to seven for Liberty.

2B CONSOLATION GAMES
Final: No. 1 La Conner 69, No. 6 Lake Roosevelt 61
Up next: No. 5 Raymond on Saturday at 8 a.m. in a fourth/sixth place game.
The free throw line decided this matchup as the Braves made 20 free throws and the Raiders made 3-of-8.
It also helped that Sarah Cook had a game-high 25 for La Conner and Ellie Marble had a double-double, scoring 18 points and snagging 10 boards.
Lake Roosevelt did shoot 63% from the floor, making 8 of their 15 3s.
Audrey Hansen had a team-high 18 points and six rebounds.
Final: No. 5 Raymond 56, No. 8 Chief Leschi 42
Up next: No. 1 La Conner on Saturday at 8 a.m. in a fourth/sixth place game
Kyra Gardner continues to score, something she has done all tournament.
This time, she went for 24 points, adding eight rebounds and nine steals.
The starters combined for 46 points, getting only 10 from the bench.
For Chief Leschi, Tala Mitchell and Mylina Pluff had 17 points and 15 points respectively. Pluff added 13 boards.
Raymond led the entire game.
