WIAA Hardwood Classic 2022: Woodinville girls beat Sumner for 4A title, Garfield edges Lake Washington in 3A
TACOMA, Wash. — Top-seeded Woodinville beat Sumner thanks to the stellar backcourt play of Veronica Sheffey and Tatum Thompson — as well as Sheffey's game-winning jumper — to win its first 4A state title on Saturday.
Garfield staged a furious late-game comeback to snatch victory from the Lake Washington's grasp to repeat as Class 3A champs.
That left plenty to talk about after the nets were cut down and the hoops were lowered n the Tacoma Dome — the first Hardwood Classic held in two years due to COVID.
