Ferris baseball P Castle Keaton voted the WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to Ferris baseball pitcher Castle Keaton for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for April 25-May 1!
The junior nearly tossed an immaculate game, striking out 21 of 22 batters in a complete game performance in a 9-0 win over Ridgeline.
Keaton received 41.47% of the total vote, beating out Kentridge's Saydi Orange who finished second with 26.01%. Jackson's Kalia Zellmer finished third with 14.84% and Woodinville's Taylor Fitch finished fourth with 4.4%. There were over 27,000 votes tallied this week!

Nathan Burkhart, North Central boys soccer: His overtime golden goal lifted the Wolfpack to a 3-2 win over Gonzaga Prep and the Greater Spokane League regular season title.
Aiden Emerson, Arlington boys track & field: The state’s top 800 and 1,600 runner won the 1,500 meter race at the Nike Jesuit Twilight Relays with a 3:49.14.
Caden Hottman, Hermiston boys track & field: Hit 189-9 mark in the hammer throw at the Kiwanis Twilight Invitational set a new WIAA season-best across all classifications.
Denny Fisher, Eastside Catholic boys track & field: Hit a 14-7 in the pole vault at the Bill Harris Track & Field Invitational, a new state best on the season.
Will Floyd, Seattle Prep boys track & field: Notched a 21.38 in the 200 meter dash at the Shoreline Invitational setting a new state-best across the season and a new personal best.
Chris Parkin, Columbia River baseball: Struck out seven on his way to a perfect game five-inning start and went 3 for 3 at the plate with a double and two RBI in a 10-0 win over Fort Vancouver.
Brayden Platt, Yelm boys track & field: Threw a new personal best 57 feet, three inches in the shot put for a statewide season-best mark at the Shelton Invitational.
Kalia Zellmer, Jackson softball: The Timberwolves’ senior captain and third baseman hit her first home run of the season in the 4A Wesco showdown against Glacier Peak. Her solo shot in the sixth gave Jackson a 5-1 lead. She had two RBI and scored twice in the team’s victory to remain undefeated.
Braelyn Baker, Bear Creek girls track and field: A week after grabbing the top time in the girls’ 100-meter dash (11.87 seconds), the small-school sophomore set a personal-best and state-leading time in the 200 (24.71), edging Bellevue’s Alex Buck at the Shoreline Invitational.
Taylor Fitch, Woodinville softball: The LMU signee and Falcons’ catcher blasted three solo home runs in an 8-6 4A KingCo victory over Newport of Bellevue, then socked another one in a league victory over Issaquah.
Jade Gruher, Union girls golf: The Titans’ junior fired a 2-under-par 68 to win the Cowlitz Invitational at Camas Meadows Golf Club, reports the Vancouver Columbian.
Kya Jenkins, Skyview softball: The Storm’s senior shortstop raked two home runs and five RBI in the team’s 8-0 win over Union, then had a double and scored a run in the 2-0 showdown victory over Battle Ground, reports the Vancouver Columbian.
Savannah Kambich, Marissa Crane, Elise Hopper, Ella Hopper, South Kitsap girls track and field: When the same relay quartet sets the top in-state marks in all three relays - the 4x100 (49.29 seconds), the 4x200 relay (1:42.71) and 4x400 relay (3:56.73) - at the same meet (Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays), you get a definite group recommendation.
Maddie Milhorn, Skyview softball: In a 4A GSHL showdown against Battle Ground, the ninth-grader struck out 14 in a complete-game 2-0 shutout win, allowing three hits. Earlier in the week, she struck out 12 in a one-hitter 8-0 win over Union, reports the Vancouver Columbian.
Saydi Orange, Kentridge girls track and field: Juanita’s Ashley Schroeder held the state’s top javelin mark (150 feet, 3 inches) from the first week of the season - until now. Orange moved past her to take the state lead after her 154-9 in a 4A NPSL tri-meet at French Field.
Eliza White, Curtis girls track and field: In another distance-running duel with state champion Ella Borsheim, of Bellarmine Prep, the Vikings’ sophomore won the 1,500 meters at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays in 4:29.47, the top time in Washington this spring.
Sierra Wyatt, Mead softball: The junior pitcher was a one-person wrecking crew in a 3A/2A GSL game against Cheney, hitting two home runs, including a grand slam, and totaling seven RBI, plus striking out nine in a five-inning pitching victory, reports the Spokesman-Review.
Alli Kimball, Peninsula softball: Across a four-game span, the junior tossed 15 innings with 31 strikeouts - including a shutout against Yelm and a perfect game against Central Kitsap allowing no runners on base. At the plate, Kimball went 10-for-13 with five singles, two doubles, two home runs, a triple, and four walks.
