Top 5 Washington high school boys track and field marks in each WIAA event in districts

Two state records fell on the same day. With state championship meets a week away, who is the best of the best as of Thursday, May 19, 2022?

Two Washington state track & field records were broken on Friday, minutes apart.

Foster's Lyricc Lopez's had already run the fastest 300-meter hurdle time the state had seen in 17 years. On Friday, set a new all-time state record with 36.26 in the 300-meter hurdles at the 2A KingCo championship meet, surpassing Garfield's Mark Phillips' 36.57, which was set in 1986 (Phillips' younger brother Peller Phillips coaches Lopez as an assistant at Foster).

On the same day, Squalicum's Andre Korbmacher ran a 13.84 in the 110 hurdles, breaking Daniuel Zmuda of Steilacoom's 13.84 set in 2013. Korbmacher had tied the record at the 2022 Arcadia Invitational in April

Those are the latest records to fall, following Rainier thrower and Texas commit Jeremiah Nubbe, who broke the state record in the discus in late April.

And they headline the top marks in the state in the 2021-22 season as high school track athletes across Washington compete at district championship meets this week to qualify for the WIAA state track championship.

Five season-best marks were set in the last week. Three were hit at week at sub-district and league championship meets and two more were added Wednesday night in early district action.

Sehome's Jacob Andrew ran a 21.30 in the 200-meter dash at the first day of District 1 2A sub-districts at Civic Stadium in Bellingham on May 11, surpassing his previous season high 21.53, which he hit May 4 at a three-team conference meet.

Curtis junior Titus Morris's 23-3 1/4 long jump at the 3A/4A West-Central bi-district championship at Kent-Meridian. In the same meet, Yelm sophomore Brayden Platt, a high-major Division I football prospect, notched a 58-2 1/4 in the shot put, surpassing his own 57-3, which he his April 30 at the Shelton Invitational.

The WIAA state track meet is set to take place for the first time in three years on May 26-28. The 2A/3A/4A state meets is at Mount Tahoma High School and 1B/2B/1A compete at Eastern Washington University's Roos Field.

Here are the top five marks for each WIAA track & field event as of Thursday, May 19:
