'Battle of the Brands' all-star football rematch goes same way as the first time - Team FSP

Led by an 80-yard touchdown run from Scottre Humphrey, and two special-teams scores, Team FSP turns away club rival Heir Academy, 21-10, at Chief Leschi Stadium

PUYALLUP - Round 2 of the "Battle of the Brands" all-star football game Sunday afternoon went to the surest of bets - Team FSP.

But it went a lot closer than the first installment.

Team FSP rode three big-play touchdowns, including two on special teams, to turn away Heir Boyz, 21-10, at Chief Leschi Stadium.

Scottre Humphrey, the bruising running back with the underrated burst from Rainier Beach High School, had the game's two biggest plays from scrimmage - 'an 80-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter, and a 75-yard catch and run early in the second half.

"I think it woke us up, Humphrey said. "If I can do anything to get my team hyped up, I’ll do it."

Jason Brown, one of the state's top 2024 recruits at Team FSP, spoke louder about Humphrey's contributions than the Vikings' standout himself did.

"That guy can ball," Brown said. "He has sneaky speed, and he’s big, strong and physical. Those big plays were a huge help for momentum."

Humphrey's long touchdown run put Team FSP up 7-0 with 6:29 to go in the first quarter.

Then came the onslaught of big plays for Team FSP in special teams.

Later in the first quarter, Andre Piper-Jordan, the Federal Way standout, sprinted forward to corral a punt and returned it 62 yards down the left sideline for another touchdown - and 14-0 Team FSP lead.

After Auburn Riverside's David Perez converted a 47-yard field goal to get Heir on the scoreboard, Rahshawn Clark, also from Federal Way, returned the ensuring kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown, and Team FSP led 21-3 with 9:20 remaining in the first half.

Heir did cash in on its own big scoring play with 21.4 seconds to go in the first half. Micah Balzarini, the former Puyallup quarterback, found Lakes wide receiver David Wells wide open down the right hash for an 88-yard touchdown to cut it to 21-10.

Team FSP did get to the Heir 7-yard line to open the second half, but did not score. No team got into the red zone after that.

Last spring, Team FSP won the inaugural game, 35-14.

"First off, bragging rights, most importantly," Brown said. "You always want to be able to look at the guy across from you an be like, ‘Hey, what happened last time we played you?’"
