University softball INF Natalie Singer voted the WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to University softball infielder Natalie Singer for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for May 16-22!

The sophomore blasted a three-run home run to blow the game open in a 9-3 district semifinal victory over Hermiston. She also had two hits in the game. The Titans and Walla Walla were rained out and ruled to be co-district champions, reports the Spokesman-Review.

Singer received 36.18% of the total vote, beating out Skyline's Ryan Grace who finished second with 32.6%. Yelm's Trevontay Smith finished third with 15.26% and Tahoma's Kaiea Higa finished fourth with 9.96%. There were over 14,000 votes tallied this week!

Abbie Amend, Freeman softball: The senior ace pitcher pitched a one-hitter in going the distance, and went 5-for-5 at the plate with a double and a pair of RBIs in the Scotties’ 12-1 victory over Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls in the Class 1A district title game at Spokane Falls CC, reports the Spokesman-Review.

Ryan Grace, Skyline softball: The 4A KingCo pitcher of the year was a force in the District 1/2 tournament, defeating Redmond, Jackson and then tossing a two-hitter, striking out 10 in the district title game - a 7-0 win over Mount Si.

Kaiea Higa, Tahoma softball: The Oregon State University-bound slugger had a stellar Class 4A West Central/Southwest bi-district tournament. In three games, she went 6-for-6 with three home runs and five RBi. She was intentionally walked three times in her final games.

Alli Kimball, Peninsula softball: After back-to-back no-hit performances to start the Class 3A West Central/Southwest bi-district tournament against Jefferson and Prairie, the junior held 2018 state champion Bonney Lake in check in the championship game, striking out 13 in five-plus innings in a 5-2 Seahawks’ victory.

Hana Moll, Capital girls track and field: The talented Cougars’ junior lowered her time in the 100-meter hurdles (14.69 seconds) to maintain the No. 2 overall mark in the state behind Emerald Ridge’s JaiCieonna Gero-Holt in winning at the Class 3A West Central/Southwest bi-district meet in Kent. She also went 14-0 in the pole vault to beat her sister, Amanda, for the district title.

Taylor Mularski, Mead girls golf: The Gonzaga University-bound senior fired a tournament-record 3-under-par 67 to take individual honors at the Class 3A district title at Liberty Lake Golf Course. Earlier in the season, she shot 6-under 66 to set the ladies’ course record at Horn Rapids in Richland, reports the Spokesman-Review.

Saydi Orange, Kentridge girls track and field: It’s been quite a month for the Chargers’ standout, who eclipsed 150 feet in the girls javelin for the third time - this time with a personal-best and state-leading 157 feet to win the title at the Class 4A West Central/Southwest bi-district title in Kent. She now leads all Washington throwers by nearly 7 feet.

Katelynn Rigg, Olympia girls track and field: The Bears’ senior PR’d by more than a half a second in the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 13.16 seconds) to take the top time in the state of Washington this spring in winning the event title at last week’s 4A West Central/Southwest bi-district meet in Kent.

Karlee VonMoos, Adna softball: Went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI, and also notched the pitching save in the Pirates’ 14-13 Class 1A district championship showdown victory over No. 1 Pe Ell/Willapa Valley. Her two-run blast in the first inning got Adna going with a six-run first inning, reports the Centralia Chronicle.

Sarah Wright, Kentwood softball: One of the best pitchers in the state had a performance for the ages in the Class 4A West Central/Southwest bi-district championship game against Skyview. She pitched a no-hitter, striking out 18. She also hit two home runs and accounted for five Rbi in the team’s 6-0 win.

Jacob Andrews, Sehome boys track and field: Set two new state-best marks at the WIAA District 1 Championship meet on Friday, running a 10.55 100-meter dash and 21.24 in the 200.

Jackson Cox, Toutle Lake baseball: Tossed a no-hitter — his second of the season —in the regional quarterfinals against Forks to send the Ducks to the 2B state semis.

Ryan Orr, Tumwater baseball: Washington State-bound righty tied his own program record with 17 strikeouts in a 7-1 regional playoff win over Shadle Park on Saturday.

Sam Boyle, Columbia River baseball: Washington commit struck out 14 batters while giving up four hits and two walks in a complete game start to lead the Rapids past Steilacoom in the 2A regional playoffs.

Garet Hagy, Ephrata baseball: Drove in a walk-off single to send Ephrata to the second regional playoff round, then tossed seven strikeouts in a complete game start in the regional quarterfinals.

Alex Harris, Columbia River boys soccer: Logged his 10th hat trick of the season in a 3-0 win over Othello in the 2A state quarterfinals.

Jonathan Landry, Evergreen boys track and field: Set a school record with a 23-0 1/2 long jump at the 3A District 3/4 Championship meet on Friday.

Jordan Hanson, Tumwater baseball: His 11 strikeouts and nearly complete game showing wasn’t just the best pitching Ephrata coach Jason Lauren said he saw all year. It also helped the T-Birds book a trip to the 2A state semifinals.

Will Floyd, Seattle Prep boys track and field: Swept first in the 100, 200 and 400-meter races — the there events he hopes to win state in — at the 3A Sea-King District 2 Championship meet.

Salvador Ceja, Highland boys soccer: Scored a second-half insurance goal in a 2-0 win over top-seeded Toppenish in the 1A quarterfinals, ending a 19-game win streak.

Trevontay Smith, Yelm boys track and field: Smith recorded two PRs at the district meet - taking first in the high jump with a jump of 6’1" and first in Triple Jump with a jump of 44’10” helping the boys track team win districts for the first time in over 20 years.

Hannah Chang, Richland girls track and field: Last week the senior won four regional events In Spokane, taking home victories in the 100m hurdles at 15.18 (which currently sits at No. 3 in 4A), 4x100 relay with a PR of 49.01 (currently No. 2 in 4A), 4x400 relay at 4.02.49 (No. 5 in 4A), and the long jump at 17'5" PR (No. 7 in 4A).
