Jacob Lane, Emerald Ridge 3-star 2023 edge rusher, commits to University of Washington football in front of Huskies staff

Lane made the announcement on the Husky Stadium turf moments Emerald Ridge won the annual University of Washington 7-on-7 tournament

Emerald Ridge coach Adam Schakel was visibly teeming with excitement as he addressed his team in the middle of the University of Washington's Husky Stadium turf on Sunday.

"There's only one more day that can make this day better," Schakel said, before calling his standout edge rusher Jacob Lane up in front of the team. "What can make this day Jacob Lane?"

Lane hopped up, looked toward University of Washington coaches standing in the background and made his college pledge: "I'm going to be a dawg, coach."

The 6-foot-5, 230 pound defensive lineman was mobbed by teammates in celebration. He's a three-star prospect, according to recruiting site 247 Sports, and also held offers from Arizona, California, Air Force and Army.

The Jaguars had just received the trophy for winning the annual UW 7-on-7 passing tournament after defeating defending 4A WIAA state champ Graham-Kapowsin.

He's Washington's first in-state pledge in the class of 2023.

The Jaguars went 5-5 in 2021.
