Jayden Wayne, the consensus top class-of-2023 recruit in Washington since he arrived at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, announced Tuesday that he is leaving the school to enroll at IMG Academy in Florida.

"I have been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said Wayne in a released statement on social media.

Given that five of his six finalist colleges are closer to the East Coast - with Oregon being the exception - the senior year-only move makes sense.

The Adidas All-American 6-foot-5 edge rusher announced in late May that Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan State and Oregon were in his top six.

Ranked No. 35 nationally by 247Sports.com, and No. 74 by ESPN.com in the class of 2023, Wayne was a SBLive WA all-state second team selection (44 tackles, 13 quarterback hurries, nine sacks) last fall as a junior.
