Top stars, best performances in Week 5 of the 2022 Washington high school football season

Players continue to put up big, game-changing performances heading into the second half of the regular season

Upsets and big performances were aplenty in Week 5. With teams now in the middle of league play, the stakes are getting higher every week.

These players stood out in Week 5.

Xe’ree Alexander, Kennedy Catholic (4A)

Scored a pair of rushing touchdowns on offense and was credited for two turnovers but had a hand in another on a tipped ball in a 4A NPSL victory over Federal Way.

Brady Beaner, Anacortes (2A)

Sophomore was everywhere - six rushes, 123 yards and two touchdowns, plus four receptions for 171 yards and another score, as well as a tackle for loss - in the Seahawks' victory over Sedro-Woolley.

Gavin Fugate, W.F. West (2A)

Bearcats’ quarterback completed 15 of 24 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns in W.F. West’s first win over Tumwater since 2009.

Marcques George, Mount Baker (1A)

Carried the ball only 13 times, but racked up 215 rushing yards and four touchdowns in the Mountaineers' win.

Chance Guadiz, Rainier Beach (3A)

Signal caller for the Vikings found ease slinging the ball around to the tune of 326 yards and three touchdowns against Roosevelt.

Taylor Ioane, Camas (4A)

Six touchdown passes from the Papermakers’ quarterback helped give Camas its second consecutive win.

Gabarri Johnson, Lincoln of Tacoma (3A)

Threw more touchdowns (five) than he did incompletions (three) in a win over Bonney Lake.

Rocco Koch, Curtis (4A)

Dual-threat quarterback took it to the Bellarmine Prep defense - 14-of-20 for 154 yards and two touchdowns, and 21 rushes, 208 yards and another score in the Vikings' victory.

Will Landram, Gig Harbor (3A)

Threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns in the Tides’ overtime loss against Timberline.

Colton Lentz, Nooksack Valley (1A)

Made an impact on both sides of the ball with a 99-yard fumble return TD and 36-yard rushing score for the Pioneers.

Derek McKinney, Mount Tahoma (3A)

Accounted for eight touchdowns (four rushing, four passing) in Mount Tahoma’s non-league win over Battle Ground.

Max O’Neill, Napavine (2B)

Ran back two kicks of 87 and 67 yards for touchdowns in a Napavine blowout of Bellingham.

Matthew Spurbeck, Sumner (4A)

A freight train that couldn’t be stopped against Graham-Kapowsin with 279 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Dylan Spicer, Tenino (1A)

Took the ball 22 times for 252 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to top-ranked Eatonville.

Emmett Stein, Skyview (4A)

Two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown and a blocked field goal in Skyview’s blowout of Heritage.

Kameron Spencer, Battle Ground (4A)

Filled the personal stat sheet, throwing for six touchdown passes in a shootout loss to Mount Tahoma.

Ki’Marree Washington, Lakes (3A)

Ran all over the Silas defense with 186 yards on the ground and four touchdowns to lead the Lancers over the Rams.
