Zillah football player Jayden Salme voted the WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Zillah QB Jayden Salme for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for Sept. 19-24!

Part of a talented sophomore class, Salme complete 17 of 28 passes for a career-high 389 yards and six touchdowns in the Leopards' victory over Wahluke.

Salme received nearly 44.3% of the vote, beating out Puyallup volleyball player Ivy Vindivich, who finished second with 24.7%.

Adrianne Agbayani, Evergreen of Vancouver girls soccer (3A): Assisted four goals and scored two of her own in the first half of an 8-1 blowout of Reynolds (OR)

Anna Callahan, Skyline girls cross country (4A): Runner-up in the Nike Portland Cross Country varsity race, but finished first among Washington high school participants with a time of 17:38.6.

Nathan Cavanaugh, Cedarcrest (2A): The junior quarterback had it rolling against Shorewood, completing 11 of 14 passes for 288 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a victory.

Callie Curran, Ridgefield volleyball (2A): Facilitated the Spudders’ offense in a big way with 47 assists in a 3-0 sweep of Woodland

Gio Kafentzis, Emerald Ridge football (4A): He was the favorite target all night with nine receptions for 156 yards and three touchdowns in the Jaguars’ rout of Curtis.

Kole Hunsaker, Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls football (1A): In a matchup of the preseason 1A Northeast favorites, the Eagles' senior quarterback came up big - 19-of-33, 250 yards, five touchdowns - in a 36-27 win over Freeman.

Taylor Ioane, Camas football (4A): Senior quarterback led Papermakers to first win of 2022 by throwing for 303 yards, rushing for 66 yards and accounting for four touchdowns in a win over Kelso.

Ava Jensen, Shorecrest girls soccer (3A): Recorded a goal and two assists in Shorecrest’s 4-0 shutout of Edmonds-Woodway to help keep the team unbeaten.

JT Marsh, Cedarcrest football (2A): The junior wide receiver had seven catches for a career-high 245 yards and three touchdowns as the Red Wolves remaining undefeated with a win over Shorewood.

Jay Mentink, Sumner football (4A): Two-way standout showed up big for the Spartans against Puyallup with an early interception and 46-yard receiving touchdown in a 40-10 Vikings' victory..

Ian Mohl, Chiawana football (4A): Riverhawks running back was a workhorse - 29 carries for 224 yards - but it was his second-effort 71-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that led the team to a 39-27 win over Richland.

Zack Munson, Sehome boys cross country (2A): Fifth place overall, but first among Washington high school participants in the Nike Portland Cross Country varsity race with a time of 14:59.7.

Rory Murry, Auburn Riverside girls soccer (3A): In matchup of NPSL powerhouses, goalkeeper registered her fourth shutout of the season, finishing with six saves in the Ravens' 5-0 victory over Kennedy Catholic.

Caleb Presley, Rainier Beach football (3A): Oregon Ducks pledge made his presence felt against Ballard, bringing down two interceptions in the Vikings’ win.

Payton Torrey, Mossyrock volleyball (1B): Put together an outstanding performance against Toutle Lake with 19 kills, 15 digs with a .548 hitting percentage.

Ivy Vindivich, Puyallup volleyball (4A): Senior recorded a 12-kill, 12-dig double-double in Puyallup’s sweep of No. 1 Curtis in what was then a battle of undefeated teams

David Wells, Lakes football (3A): Oregon State commit hauled in only four passes for 112 yards, but three of them went for touchdowns in the Lancers' win over Stadium.

Jeremiah Wright, Lynden Christian football (1A): Quarterback scored all three touchdowns for the Lyncs in their upset win over Class 1A champion Royal that ended the Knights 36-game winning streak.
