Top stars, best performances in Week 8 of the 2022 Washington high school football season

Whether they were helping their team in one-sided games or leading the way in an upset, the latest standouts in Washington high school football are showing up when the stakes are raised.

These players made an impact in Week 8.

Xe’ree Alexander, Kennedy Catholic (4A)

Made a difference in all three phases with two sacks, a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown and one rushing touchdown.

Brock Beaner, Anacortes (2A)

Six tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble and one pass break up for the Seahawks in a 27-6 win over Burlington-Edison.

Blake Borup, Eastlake (4A)

The leading rusher in 4A KingCo busted out for a career-high 302 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries in the Wolves' win over Bothell.

Skyler Cassel, West Valley of Yakima (4A)

The state's leading passer went bonkers - 446 yards and five touchdowns - to lead the Rams to a victory over reigning 4A CBBN champion Moses Lake.

Edgar Delarosa, Royal (1A)

Knights' all-around athlete took punt returns of 86 and 38 yards back for touchdowns, and also caught a 20-yard touchdown in the team's victory over College Place.

Ashton Demarest, Napavine (2B)

On the list again as he did all his damage in the first half with one passing touchdown on 8 of 11 passing for 141 yards. Also had 85 yards on the ground for three scores.

Cole Edwards, North Kitsap (2A)

Threw as many touchdowns as he did incompletions going 9-of-13 passing for 128 yards and four touchdowns in a rout of Sequim. Also ran in another score.

Breydan Fisher, Washington (2A)

Brought down seven passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner with 17.9 seconds left in the game, in the Patriots’ win over Steilacoom.

T.J. Haberman, Mount Spokane (3A)

Completed 15 of 22 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter, to upend Gonzaga Prep.

Gabarri Johnson, Lincoln of Tacoma (3A)

Only threw the ball nine times, but completed all nine of those passes for 221 yards and a score. He also ran the ball for 87 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Lakes.

Jake Kennedy, Skyview (4A)

Accounted for four touchdowns with passing scores of 28 and 52 yards and rushing scores of 12 and five yards in Skyview’s lopsided win over Battle Ground.

Jayden Limar, Lake Stevens (4A)

Ran all over the Kamiak defense to the tune of 239 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries in another blowout win for Lake Stevens.

Parker Mady, Curtis (4A)

Sophomore receiver had an 83-yard punt return for a touchdown, two catches for 75 yards and a score, a 1-yard touchdown run and also caused a fumble in the Vikings' win over South Kitsap.

Jake Mason, Ferndale (3A)

Made things difficult all night for the Stanwood offense with 9.5 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, a forced fumble and one blocked field goal in Ferndale’s upset win.

Sam Merriman, Bishop Blanchet (3A)

The junior rushed for a career-high 321 yards and three touchdowns in the team's 36-28 Metro League win over Ballard.

Kyler Ronquillo, Yelm (3A)

Dangerous in many ways, Ronquillo ran for 126 yards and one touchdown, hauled in a 20-yard touchdown reception and had an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Landon Taylor, Clarkston (2A)

His 74-yard punt return for a touchdown with less than three minutes left ended up being the decisive score in Clarkston’s 24-17 win over Shadle Park.

Masen Uribe, Eastside Catholic (3A)

Ran for a career-high 219 yards and one touchdown in a win over Rainier Beach that gave the Crusaders the 3A Metro League title.

Steven Warren Jr., Edmonds-Woodway (3A)

In a win that clinched the No. 3 seed in the 3A Wesco South, he threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns of 73, 41 and 29 yards for the Warriors.

Jeremiah Wright, Lynden Christian (1A)

Led the Lyncs in passing and rushing with 110 and 107 yards, respectively. He logged four total touchdowns with two through the air and two on the ground.
