WASHINGTON NOMINEES
Isaac Briggs, Rogers of Puyallup boys cross country: Set a new personal 5-kilometer record to win the Westside Classic District championship with a time of 15:22.7.
Joe Callerame, Seton Catholic football: Filled the stat sheet running the ball for 160 yards and two touchdowns to go with a 54-yard receiving touchdown. Got it done on defense, too, recovering a fumble for a score.
Marcques George, Mount Baker football: George is the catalyst behind the Mountaineers’ offense and is a big reason why they’re in a position to claim a playoff spot via tiebreaker after his five-touchdown, 266-yard rushing performance against Lynden Christian.
Jackson Hale, Mount Spokane football: Came up big in the moments that mattered for the Wildcats with a 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to put them up by two scores and hauled in an interception.
Brody Hartley, Walla Walla boys cross country: Won the individual title in a time of 15:23.91 at the District 8 3A/4A cross country meet.
Gabarri Johnson, Lincoln of Tacoma football: Once again burned the opposing defense with his arm and legs compiling 238 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while also recording 70 rushing yards and another touchdown on the ground.
Deon Kinsey, Rogers of Spokane football: Things went well just about every time Kinsey touched the ball last week as he carried the ball 14 times for 150 yards and found the end zone five times in a win over North Central.
Rocco Koch, Curtis football: Signal caller for Curtis was big in the Vikings’ win over Puyallup. He completed 14 of 23 passes for 167 yards and four touchdowns, but also picked up 184 yards on the ground on 19 rushes.
Jonathan Landry, Evergreen of Vancouver football: Landry made the opposing defense pay nearly every time the ball was thrown his way bringing down five passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns in a close-call loss to Kelso in overtime.
Carlos Matheney, Tumwater football: The Thunderbirds’ workhorse had himself a day rushing for 148 yards and four touchdowns in Tumwater’s blowout victory over Black Hills to close out the regular season on a high note.
Kolton Matson, Lake Stevens football: The young sophomore did all the right things against top-ranked Glacier Peak throwing for 190 yards and two touchdowns to give the Vikings their ninth straight 4A Wesco title.
Leo Pulalasi, Lakes football: In a playoff-clinching game for Lakes, Pulalasi came up big on offense for the Lancers racking up 232 rushing yards on just 12 carries for five touchdowns in a win over Mount Tahoma.
Emalyn Shaffer, Tumwater girls soccer: Notched five goals in Tumwater’s 6-0 win over Hockinson in the opening round of the 2A District 4 tournament.
Logan Sloman, North Kitsap football: Sloman was the favorite target all night as he caught eight passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns in North Kitsap’s win over Olympic that gave the Vikings their sixth 2A Olympic League title since 2013.
Luvens Valcin, Auburn football: Made huge contributions in the Trojans’ win over Auburn Riverside. Valcin rushed the ball for 144 yards and three touchdowns and paired that with six receptions for 71 yards.
Ivy Vindivich, Puyallup volleyball: Posted a 16-kill, 10-dig, double-double to help the Vikings crawl out of a 2-0 set hole to Graham-Kapowsin in order to finish the regular season 27-0.
Conner Walcker, Ferndale football: Helped Ferndale capture the 3A Wesco title standing out on both sides of the ball - two interceptions and seven tackles on defense to go with a receiving and rushing touchdown in a win over Monroe.
Jersey Walker, Arlington girls soccer: Recorded a hat trick for Arlington in a 3-0 win over Edmonds-Woodway in a 2A/3A Wesco matchup.
Adam Watts, Columbia River football: Accounted for six total touchdowns in Columbia River’s 44-8 win over Hudson’s Bay in the final game of the season. Watts’ five touchdown passes were for 60, 14, 52, 76 and 19 yards and his rushing touchdown was a 64-yarder.
