District championship roundup: Jenna Villa puts Arlington on her back for 3A District 1 title

Mountlake Terrace (boys), Lincoln of Tacoma (girls), Auburn (boys), Anacortes (boys) all win district championship games, as well

Having a player like Washington State commit Jenna Villa on your side has to be nice.

Just ask the Arlington Eagles.

Villa scored a ridiculous 18 points in the first quarter – and 26 for the game – to lead the Eagles past Stanwood in the Class 3A District 1 championship game.

It marked Arlington's third consecutive district title.

Arlington got out to a big lead, but Stanwood did as much as it could to battle back before ultimately falling, 63-57.

The Eagles, who fell one game shy of reaching the state championship last year, have one more stop with regionals before getting back to the Tacoma Dome.

Mountlake Terrace boys sidestep Arlington for championship

The boys 3A District 1 championship provided far less drama than the girls game.

The defining moment of the game may have come in the first quarter as the Hawks held the Eagles to just two points in the opening eight minutes.

Mountlake Terrace's Jackson Dubiel scored 15 and Zaveon Jones contributed 13 in the 57-34 win which marked back-to-back district titles for the Hawks.

Leyton Martin led the Eagles with 14 points.

Arlington will look to flush its inefficient night on offense with regionals now on deck as both teams await their matchup for next weekend.

Lincoln girls dismantle North Thurston for 3A WCD title

Nothing will get the confidence flowing heading into regionals quite like a blowout win in a district championship game.

At this point of the season, it's hard to imagine many teams being held to under 30 points, but Lincoln fully exploited a mismatch with North Thurston, holding the Rams to just 27 points.

The Abes took home the 3A WCD title in a 51-27 victory over North Thurston.

Eight different players scored for Lincoln with Oliviyah Edwards and DeAndrea Woods-Singleton leading the way with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Auburn overcomes fast start from Gig Harbor to claim district championship

Down 10 early, things weren't looking great for Auburn.

But never count out a defending state champion. The Trojans turned things around to upend the Tides for the district title in a 60-59 win.

Gig Harbor's Will Landram scored a game-high 23 points, but it wasn't enough as Auburn put together a second-half comeback.

Senior Lateibreon Chandler paced the Trojans' offense with 15 points and most of his damage coming from beyond the arc.

Anacortes holds off Sehome for 2A District 1 title

Up 21-9 after the first quarter, Anacortes was right where it wanted to be against Sehome.

The Mariners couldn't get anything going on offense and the Seahawks capitalized, building a double-digit lead that nearly held up the rest of the game.

Sehome trailed by as many as 15 in the second half before cutting it down to single digits, but right when it looked like the Mariners were going to pull off the comeback, Anacortes answered with a big run.

Anacortes' Brady Beaner led the offense with 20 points while Davis Fogle added 16.
