Toppenish wrestler Jermiah Zuniga voted the WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to Toppenish's Jermiah Zuniga for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for Feb. 13-Feb. 18!
The veteran mat leader of the state powerhouse, Zuniga was not going to be denied his third WIAA Mat Classic championship. He cruised through the 152-pound weight class in Class 1A, defeating Deer Park's Ivan Bogle, 14-7, in the finals. The Wildcats also defending their team title in the Tacoma Dome.
Zuniga received 53.2% of the vote, beating out Granger's Conan Northwind, who finished second with 43.4%.

Teryn Gardner, Mead girls basketball: Her four made 3-pointers were part of a 26-point effort that led the Panthers to a district championship win over Kennewick.
James Grose, Napavine boys basketball: A 40-point night for Grose not only led Napavine to a win over Ilwaco in a loser-out game, it also gave him the Tigers' all-time scoring record.
Addison Harris, Camas girls basketball: Notched a 22-point, 15-rebound double-double to lead the Papermakers in the district championship against Tahoma.
Kayden Lamebull-Ingram, Eastside Catholic boys basketball: With the 3A Sea-King District title up for grabs, the senior came through, scoring a game-high 21 points against O'Dea.
Conan Northwind, Granger boys wrestling: Northwind's third state wrestling title came after he pulled out a 5-3 win by decision in the 1B/2B 182-pound title match.
Q'veli Quintanilla, University boys wrestling: Quintanilla dominated the Class 3A 145-pound at Mat Classic as one of three boys last weekend to win their third state title.
Ajayi Simmons, Renton boys basketball: Scored a game-high 21 points with five 3-pointers made to lead the Redhawks past Enumclaw for the 2A West Central District title.
Faith Tarrant, Prairie girls wrestling: Tarrant capped off an incredible 35-0 season – all of her wins coming by pin – with her second consecutive 3A 235-pound title at Mat Classic.
Jenna Villa, Arlington girls basketball: Scored a game-high 26 points – 18 of them in the first quarter – to lead Arlington to the 3A District 1 title over Stanwood.
Alivia White, Marysville-Pilchuck girls wrestling: White joined the Mat Classic three-timer club after capturing her third state title – winning every match by pin in the tournament.
Tolu Young, Curtis boys swimming: Set a state record in the 50-yard freestyle sprint at 19.73 seconds in the Class 4A finals at the King Count Aquatic Center. The previous mark was 19.81 seconds, set by Glacier Peak’s Matt King in 2020.
