WASHINGTON NOMINEES

Haedyn Bambolo, Bothell girls track and field: Recorded a new personal best in the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 7 inches in a 4A KingCo dual meet, then backed that up with a 48-5 to win at the Shoreline Invitational.

Maddy Barter, Mount Baker softball: In a 31-8 rout of Class 1A defending champion Nooksack Valley, Barter went 4-for-5 at the plate with a home run, five RBI and five runs scored.

Tim Bowes, Mossyrock baseball: Tossed 5.2 innings and gave up only two hits while striking out 10 to earn the win on the mound in a 3-0 win over Class 1B defending champion Naselle.

Analise Griffiths, Meadowdale softball: Junior hit for the cycle in a 3A Wesco victory over Stanwood. She hit a single in the first inning, a triple in the second inning, a double in the third and a home run in the fifth inning to complete the feat. She also stole two bases.

Alex Harris, Columbia River boys soccer: Was a force on offense and nearly did it all for the Rapids, scoring five of their six goals in a 6-0 shutout win over Woodland.

Roman Hutchinson, Federal Way boys track and field: His pursuit of the 24-foot mark in the long jump is over. The Eagles' senior flew a personal-best 24-2 - the state's best mark in nearly six years - to win the event at the Shoreline Invitational.

Grace Melcher, Central Valley softball: Had an unbelievable day at the plate, belting three home runs and driving in 10 runs in a lopsided 22-6 win over Ferris.

Brendan McKinley, Snohomish baseball: McKinley contributed on both sides, pitching six-plus innings, striking out 16 and allowing just one run. Also tallied two hits and one RBI in a 6-2 win over Marysville-Pilchuck.

Caden Rudy, Medical Lake boys soccer: Found the back of the net four times to lead the Medical Lake offense in an 8-1 blowout win over Colville.

Lane Simonsen, Lynden baseball: Dominated Squalicum on the mound for seven innings, not allowing a hit while striking out 16 Storm batters in the no-hit effort and 3-2 win.

Maddie Smith, Ridgefield softball: Had a monster day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a double, home run and five RBI in a 15-5 win over Mark Morris.

Rachel Sysum, Jackson softball: Fresno State commit keeps on racking up long balls. Her solo home run to lead off the fourth inning was No. 10 of the season, and it held up in the No. 2 Timberwolves' 1-0 win over 3A No. 1 Bonney Lake.

Karlee VonMoos, Adna softball: Dominated in the circle against Rainier, allowing just one hit with two walks and 13 strikeouts in a win that gave the Mountaineers their first league loss.

Alanna Wirtala, Emerald Ridge softball: The Jaguars have caught fire in the 4A SPSL - and she is a big reason why. The sophomore earned three complete-game victories (21 IP, 22 strikeouts, 1.67 ERA), including a one-hit shutout of league-leading Olympia.
