Surrender at the border: Team FSP rolls by Oregon counterpart in convincing fashion

PUYALLUP, Wash. - Two weeks, two out-of-state opponents - two easy shutout victories for Team FSP.

This time, Team FSP got off to a scorching start - five touchdowns in the first 10 minutes - and breezed to a 55-0 victory over Bridge City, a second-year club program from near Portland, Oregon.

Two weeks ago, Team FSP blanked the Hawaii Rebels, 42-0, at this same site - Chief Leschi Stadium.

But unlike that win in April, Team FSP got rolling early, scoring on its first series on O'Dea standout Jason Brown Jr.'s 2-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead at the 9:28 mark of the first quarter.

Then, it was Ambrose Marsh's turn to take over a series.

The Eastside Catholic defensive back knocked away a pass on defense, then took a punt 46 yards for another touchdown three minutes later.

After Jayden Rice-Claiborne (Curtis) recovered a botched kickoff return at the Bridge City 31-yard line, the Team FSP offense struck again on E.J. Caminong's 11-yard touchdown to Jabez Woods, extending the lead to 21-0 with 4:26 to go in the first quarter.

That series capped a stellar two games - roughly two quarters for Caminong, a University of Washington quarterback commit who plays at Garfield. He's thrown for two touchdowns and run for another score in the two all-star games.

"I really feel like I can do everything, and I feel I showed, with these past two games specifically, a little more of what I have in store," Caminong said.

Marsh stuffed a fourth-and-1 attempt on Bridge City's next drive, and Kolton Matson, the sophomore at Lake Stevens, spiraled a 33-yard touchdown strike to Malachi Durant for a 27-0 Team FSP lead.

In both all-star games, both Woods and Durant - now Graham-Kapowsin teammates - have scored touchdowns.

"Been connected since Day 1," Woods said.

Team FSP went up 34-0 on O'Dea defensive lineman David Schwerzel's short fumble return for a touchdown off a sack at the 2:10 mark of the first quarter.

TOP PERFORMERS

RB Jason Brown, O'Dea: Ol' Mr. Reliable. Scored game's first touchdown (2-yard run) and later played cornerback and made special-teams tackle.

WRs Malachi Durant and Jabez Woods, Graham-Kapowsin: For second time in two weeks, both teammates score touchdowns. Big-time duo emerging.

PK Owen Livingston, O'Dea: Considering he wasn't asked to play until late Friday night (because Luke Scoma was at kicking camp), he filled in great (8-of-9 PATs).

CB Ambrose Marsh, Eastside Catholic: Had pass breakup, fourth-down stop - and game-breaking 45-yard punt return for a touchdown.

LB Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, Bethel: So big and athletic off the edge, he had tackle for loss, pass breakup and was key cog in applying backfield pressure.
